Very fast and large range

I bought this because my older netgear wireless router couldn't reach my outbuilding on my property. I had a wireless garage door opener installed and I wanted to install wireless cameras. I now have internet all over my 1.5 acres with my new Orbi RBR50.
Set up was easy with the app. It only took about 10 minutes. Make sure you update the firmware as soon as you set it up. I didn't do at first and lost connectivity for a short period. After I updated the firmware my internet was flawless. I found it easiest to do the firmware update from my home computer.
The Orbi is has both 2.4 and 5.0Ghz even though you don't see the separate bands. I have seen that my older devices are on 2.4Ghz and my newer devices are on 5.0Ghz. There is a separate guest network that you can turn on and off.
As of today, I have about 30 devices connected to my Orbi and it still does a fabulous job streaming movies.
Great router.

Next Gen Router - Purely Amazing
on May 29, 2019

I purchased the Orbi AC3000. I have the router and two satellites. It was super fast and easy to set up.
The web UI and Mobile app were tremendously user friendly.
As soon as the set up was completed, I was off to the races. I pay for 200mbps through my ISP provider. Orbi has given my family 215mbps down and 12mbps upload.
We are estatic due to the fact that we have 23 smart devices in our home. Only three of which are hardwired and the rest on WiFi.
Every device is getting over 200mbps down. We have zero dead spots in our house and still receive solid covery while outside.
I show cased Orbi to two of my immediate family members. They were blown away by the speed test, signal and range Orbi made in my household.
They both went right out and purchased the AC3000. They are now just as happy as me.
Thank you Netgear for working extremely hard to make the best next gen Router hands down.
Sincerely,
Jason

Wow, Orbi!!!

I'm a FiOS subscriber who lives in a 3-story townhouse. My Quantum modem is in the mechanical room next to the garage and so the signal in my master bedroom on the 3rd floor is intermittent and rather weak. I purchased the FiOS cabled extender last year but despite regular tweaks, I had continuous channel interference along with having to deal with split 2.4 and 5GHz networks. Not fun. So when I saw that FiOS was offering a great price deal on the top rated (Wirecutter) Netgear Orbi Mesh Network, I took the plunge. Wow!! I set it up in under 30 minutes and it's worked perfectly since the first minute it went live. The FiOS-specific set-up instructions included in the Orbi box were spot-on. With the range extender, I was getting upload/download speeds of 40/20 even though I was paying for 100/100 service. Post Orbi, I'm getting 125/95 on average with the Orbi router and Orbi satellite provided. Again, wow!! Five star rating!!

Orbi Wi-Fi Router
on May 29, 2019

First thing I think people would want to know about is the coverage and speeds of the Wi-Fi. Coverage is amazing, I wanted to cover about 3,000 square feet and I have full coverage with no drops even when switching between access points. No need to worry about changing between devices as you only have one network name and everything else is magic. As for speed, I pay for 100mbps and I het over that consistently with Orbi. First wireless router I've got those speeds no matter where I'm at.
Next thing I'm sure people would want to know is setup. I downloaded the app and had everything set up in 25 minutes including firmware updates for the router.
I couldn't be happier with this device. I'm a cord cutter with a streaming service, gaming and several mob like devices always running. This is by far the best home Wi-Fi I have ever experienced. I recommend this product to any user that want great performance and coverage.

Easy to setup and performance mesh routing
on May 29, 2019

Configuration of the Orbi is one of the easiest I've done, and I have confirmed a number of network devices at home and at work. The performance is where it really shines, especially when you understand that there really is no hard line. There are some gotchas.
There are some gotchas. Most of the Orbi color states are self explanatory. However sometimes it's not clear why it's in that state. Troubleshooting is where the ease of use of the interface gets in the way. The more complex options or tools useful in trouble shooting, if you are familiar with networking, are harder to find or absent. However most issues can be solved with judicious reboots, or playing with the location of the actual device and measuring throughput.
Despite a lack of some troubleshooting tools Orbi is still heads above in setup and performance. I have not tried the other mesh network devices, primary because I've been so satisfied if the Orbi.

Works Well In Challenging Home
on May 29, 2019

I live in a 1450 sq ft home. I don't know what it is but it has always been challenging to get WiFi from Living Room to the bedroom I use as an office. I tried WiFi extenders, more powerful routers which helped but were never able to provide consistent good WiFi. It required a reboot multiple times a week and I always encountered buffering issues. Then I tried this model of Orbi. I got it because of the advertised coverage. When I first connected it I got a maroon color on the satellite module. At first I thought my house just didn't like to have WiFi. Then after moving it a little, I got what appeared to be a good connection. After going through the initial setup, I had to reboot everything. Then I saw very good reception on all devices throughout my home. Not just a connection but one with the speed I was paying my ISP to provide. I finally have very good coverage in my home and am enjoying it. I would highly recommend this product.

Dedicated Backhaul and Ports make the difference.
on May 29, 2019

After extensive comparison shopping for a mesh network setup for my home, I settled on Orbi as they were superior in a couple of ways. The first is the dedicated backhaul links. As a result, I am not seeing any significant speed drop across my 3 device setup. The second stand out for me was that each device has 4 ethernet ports per. Other products have fewer or, in some cases, none at all. The router management and setup UX is below average, but totally functional. I'd like to see their management tools step up to match the quality of the hardware. The design is very modern looking, but not practical if you want to wall mount. I have mine stashed away our of sight, but in tighter spaces where countertop space is a premium I'd rather not have this guy taking it up. Very pleased with this from setup to day-to-day use. The signal strength and network speed improvements have made this a solid recommendation for me to my friends and family.

Delivers WiFi as Advertised
on May 29, 2019

Was not sure the Orbi AC3000 would solve the weak signal issues in my 4500 SF house. The internet modem is located in the basement, in the furnace room. There is exposed ductwork directly above the location where the Orbi sets. I needed WiFi signal downstairs as well as upstairs, as we have various smart devices that are connected via WiFi (thermostats, tablets, phones, printers, TVs, etc.). In addition, we have an internet-enabled TV in the garage. Our house is ICF construction (i.e. concrete), so the signal to the garage can only go through the door between the house and the garage. I was hopeful that I could get a signal out there, but was not really expecting much. I am pleased to say that the WiFi signal throughout both floors of the house is equally strong no matter where you stand. In addition, the WiFi signal in the garage is the best we have ever had, and more than sufficient to stream video and music. Setup was quick and easy.
