Bought this because my provider provided router/modem didn't reach my bedroom or most of my top floor. Read the reviews and was a little taken back by the absence of truly "Mesh network" but was happy to see that it was faster than other popular "Mesh network" systems like the Google home wifi. Easy setup and installation and when I finally tested my speeds WOW!! upstairs I was lucky to get 5 Mbps now I'm over 100 Mbps consistently. I can strwam, play video games, download, YouTube and I don't have to worry about buffering anymore. Can't say enough great things about this system, matter of fact I said so many nice thing about this system my friend bought one too. Beware though some ISP provided routers require some tweaking before their router/modems will play nice with the orbi, learned that the hard way, Att looking at you here!

Easy install, great performance

I wanted a tri-band mesh router to cover my house & yard. The Orbi RBR50 was easy to install and has worked flawlessly. My speed test has shown about 100 Mbps; Fios upped my speed over Thanksgiving and Orbi has supported this speed. My Orbi is connected to the Fios router. After several days I noticed 2 problems: 1) 404 errors after clicking on links in phone email or PC mail and 2) login requests for some sites that should not ask. I searched on internet and found another user suggesting putting Orbi in AP mode. My other router had been in AP mode prior to replacing it with Orbi. So I logged into Orbi from my PC, switched it to AP mode and within minutes, no more problems. I am using AP mode so that my multifunction printer and other devices are available to any phone, tablet, or PC connected to either the Fios router or the Orbi mesh network.
Very happy with my purchase.

World-class WiFi Mesh System
on May 29, 2019

I have been using this for over a week now and I can tell, right out of the box through usage in a 2000 sq. ft. two-leveled 4-bedroom, single-family home, the coverage & speeds I am getting all over my home is truly world-class. I've never had the 'luxury' of experiencing speeds in the corners of my home of near wire-speeds of 250Mbps that I am getting with this system. Outstanding so far. The only minor complaint (if one would call it that) is the larger size of the router SBR50 & the satellite SBS50's, but then the advantage for me that each of these have 4 Gig Ethernet ports, through which I get true wirespeeds, given this tri-band system has a high bandwidth, high-speed dedicated 5Ghz between the router & the satellites!!! My decision to go with this system inspite of it being ~$100 more than 4-pack, dual-band, AC1200 Google WiFi mesh system, seems to be a good one overall!!!

An excellent system!

After recently purchasing a new router and realizing that I also needed a new Wi-fi range extender, my research led me to consider a mesh system instead. After considering a less expensive brand that had positive reviews I ultimately decided to purchase the Orbi mesh system because it was the only one that was said to maintain the same Wi-fi signal strength at the satellite as at the router itself. That turns out to be true; the signal at the west end of our large and long apartment is just as strong as the signal at the east end, where the router resides. Every device on our home network is performing beautifully, including our previously very inconsistent wireless printer. Setup was easy, and the app interface has been very smooth.
Folks should do their own research, but I can attest to the excellent performance of the Orbi mesh system and I recommend it highly, without reservation.

Simple, easy to use mesh network

I did a lot of reading about various mesh systems before deciding on this one. My main interests in this were the dedicated third band, the coverage size, and ability to expand with extra satellites.
Set up took no more than maybe 10 minutes. It was incredibly simple.
I live in a 2-story, 4000 sq ft house. I have the router at one end of the house on the first floor and the satellite at the other end of the house on the second floor. The connection between them is excellent, and walking around shows no dead spots anywhere in the house. I get my advertised speed anywhere in the house.
It's not covering my back yard quite as well as I would like, but the ability to add that outdoor satellite is very convenient and something I will do in the future.
Overall I think it's a great system that easily covered the space I use it in, with some nice features to help expand in the future.

Simply perfect

I purchased this after extensive review on CNET to replace my Xfinity gateway, which was mediocre at best from day one. The Xfinity gateway only covered about 50% of my 4,200 SF home, and I have a home office that is on the opposite end of the home from the gateway. I didn't have anywhere else convenient to move the gateway. Even when in the same room as the gateway, we experienced dropped signals frequently. The Orbi was highly rated due to the separate channel to provide the signal to the satellite unit, and still maintain nearly full speed. The ratings were accurate. I also purchased a Netgear modem to go with the Orbi and I am equally happy with the modem. I have been able to increase my work efficiency substantially due to the increased coverage and speed, and the setup was super easy. I have already recommended this product to multiple colleagues and family members. Great product!

Great range and reliability

We replaced an old netgear router with the Orbi AC 3000 WiFi system after looking at reviews for many products. I'm 70 and while I'm reasonably tech knowledgeable, I'm no expert. I installed it myself, it behaved exactly as the instructions said it would, and it has now been up and running for about 2 months. We purchased the 3000 model because we have 3 floors and the router is all the way to one side of the house in the basement. I now get a strong signal on the other side of the house even in the garage. Our home is pretty wide rather than deep so I have been very impressed and happy. So my next step was to change out the old Hunter control box for our irrigation system and install a WiFi based system which I'm hoping will save me many dollars in water bills. We are gone over the summer and it allows me to control irrigation from my smartphone. The wonders of technology abound. ŠŠ

Extremely strong and reliable wireless signals
on May 29, 2019

I'm switching from Google WiFi to Orbi, mainly due to poor wireless signals. And I am extremely happy with Orbi.My home isn't large (less than 2000sf), but it's a two-story building with vaulted ceiling and walls. Netgear Orbi does a perfect job even in a tricky enviornment. My ISP provides 500Mbps, and my current wireless connection is giving me close to 500Mbps. Previously, my old router only brought me less than 100Mbps wireless speed. The design is sleek, though a bit bulky. It has three or four LAN ports. So you won't need a separate switch in most cases. The one downside is a weak onborading/setup process, especially comparing against Google's. Orbi still wants to set up a separate admin account. Creating account with Facebook crashes the app. This could be streamlined.Overall, Orbi provides a very strong wireless backhaul connection, which covers most of home even if your home was a tricky layout.
