The only thing that worked!

I recently moved into a guest house on a lake and wanted to utilize the landlords very high speed internet....the guesthouse is about 75 feet from the main house...I started trying a WiFi system that sent the signal through the electrical system - that worked for 1 day and quit....I then tried a WiFi extendor, but shockingly still barely had a bar of reception in the guesthouse....finally I bit the very expensive bullet and bought this system....it's quite frankly amazing - I have 5 bars and get every bit of internet my landlady pays for, still haven't seen a hickup over a week later....plus you can hardwire in devices that have issues with WiFi like my Xbox, which always disconnects from the WiFi - technically it's a WiFi connection but the Xbox is tricked into thinking its hardwired and hasn't had an issue since....highly recommend this product - though it's pricy

Airport Time Capsule is Dead- Long Live Orbi
on May 29, 2019

With Apple killing Airport Express and Time Capsule I was looking for a replacement "mesh" solution. Orbi rated high on all the reviews and seemed to be the best Time Capsule replacement. For the most part it's true - the setup was easy once I got past a cumbersome interim firmware upgrade and the system blanketed my 3 story townhouse with reasonably fast wifi. Don't expect to get an out of the box Time Capsule replacement though - the USB ports on the router and the satellites only "like" printers. No consistent luck plugging in any kind of USB hard drive to get the "Time Capsule" feel. Work on this Netgear and you'd be the perfect Apple Killer solution! Having said that the iPhone App and the hard to locate Netwear Genie OS desktop App download allow fantastic administration. Well worth a look to those of you who are grudgingly giving up your Apple Airports.

Suberb performance

I bought the Orbi system after my Asus router broke down. I decided to go with this system based on the good reviews and to finally get a reliable system with consistent speeds. We had multiple extenders throughout our home to provide sufficient coverage with variable results. With the Orbi I have been able to get rid of all our extenders and get consistent speeds in all part of our 2500 sq.ft home. Setup was easy and done in 10 minutes. You get a base station and a sattelite. The base station is directly connected to you modem and ensures that the data to your sattelite is of consistent bandwidth. You can connect your devices directly to the base station or to the sattelite and your five switches seamlessly between the 2 (or 3 if you decide to buy additional sattelites). Data speeds have been solid throughout and around the home. Can't recommend this product enough.

The True WI FI Coverage Cure
on May 29, 2019

Up until the Netgear Orbi I have been consistently disappointed with residential Wi-Fi routers. I have always researched and purchased the highest reviewed and rated WI FI routers available. Most of them with some sort of breakthrough technology gimmick that was sure to cure my WI FI woes. Frankly, I didn't expect much from the Orbi. Yes it was a little on the pricey side but I had enough of the underperforming routers in the past. With more and more items in my home utilizing WI FI it was becoming a more critical piece of equipment. The router and extender looked unassuming and setup was so easy that I was sure it wasn't going to perform as advertised. I couldn't have been more wrong. FINALLY a blistering fast and strong WI FI signal in every single area of my two story 2,500 sq ft house. So far it has performed flawlessly and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Worth it!!!!

I am extremely happy with the performance of this new wireless router system. I was skeptical at first as every router I had owned before covered only a part of the house and left the rest of the house without WiFi. As a result I had to resort to adding boosters and extenders which caused IP conflicts and resulted in an even more useless and unwanted wireless connectivity. I constantly had to switch to one channel to use the printer and another channel to use other devices. This router has solved all those issues for me. Now I have one SSID, all my devices are present on that one SSID, I have coverage in every spot of the house including the front and back yard and don't have to turn off a device to make sure we get enough speed on other devices. I am so glad I made the move. Was it expensive,,,,,, NO,,,,,, and every dollar I paid for this router system was worth it.

Impressed so far...

We were in a unique situation, we chose to see if the Orbi could be used to bridge two suites in our office building. We ended up with two non-adjoining suites on the same floor of our office building with two separate internet connections, thus doubling our monthly expenses. The suites were close enough, that we were able to use the orbi, with it's dedicated backhaul channel to bridge the gap between the offices. The results were that we were able to eliminate one of our internet connections, saving about $100/mo. and that all our machines are on the same network, allowing easy use of remote desktop and shared components like printers. Win-Win. I did have some initial difficulty because I renamed the new network to match the previous, but forgot to reserve our printers, IP address, once everything was sorted, it been running like a champ, saving us money and making work easier.

Nice upgrade

I have previously used linksys equipment in the past but it appeared they would work well for a few years and then randomly die off so I thought it would be worth it to try something new. I read several reviews on the power of this unit and I'm not disappointed. On my old router I would see around 85% of the speed I'm rated, and with this it is 95 plus consistently. The signal is also much more consistent around and outside our house. They are also clean enough looking that it can be visible and not look nerdy. I wasn't sure I liked the white as most of my tech is black, but after a couple weeks I don't know if I'd like it as much in black. I also like the satellites having ethernet ports as one of my TVs is older and doesn't support the higher speed WiFi bands. This system certainly isn't cheap, but if you want the best signal and speeds you have to pay for it.

Game changer!

Got tired of the extenders and switching between them and the router depending on where I was in the house so I wanted to try a mesh network solution. One desktop PC was on an old 802.11g WiFi print server with Ethernet ports to connect the PC. The Netgear AC3000 solved ALL the problems. Now? Super strong signal throughout the house connecting at anywhere from 200-600 Mbps. I bought the satellite unit with 4 Ethernet ports to feed the one PC and it is about 5-7 times faster. I can now actually do image backups of large hard drives over the net in short order. This is a high quality unit with some nice features and flexibility to fit any need for WiFi. Love that 1.7 Gbps backhaul radio too that keeps the traffic between the router and satellite unit off of the main 2.4 GHz. and 5 GHz. WiFi radios. Video and IP phone calls are solid with NO drops. Like I said, a game changer!
