Almost perfect

Our apartment is set up in a way that makes it much longer than it is wide, which made wifi really unreliable towards the back, in the bedroom. We also never had full speed on our wifi and spectrum said they only guarantee full speed on hard wire. Orbi has fixed both of those problems. Now we even get wifi in our detached bonus room that we use as storage/gym. This is great since now we have a reliable signal to keep Arlo back there for security. The only thing missing is that I wish we could choose what devices should have priority on the 5g network. We have a lot of smart devices which only work on 2.4g, so sometimes they go offline if Orbi tries to put them on 5g. Other than that, we've been happy with for the 6 months or so that we've had it.

Great Bang for your Buck

After extensive research and hours of mulling around on which of the latest whole home WiFi systems to purchase, I'm very happy with the price, operation, and support that Orbi (and Netgear) provides. Not only was the initial set up a breeze (basically just plug and play with minor personalized security changes), but when an error was made with the login and registration, it was rectified within 24 hours of contacting support and explaining the situation.
The connection speeds, and overall lack of packet losses, are stellar and a huge improvement over my previous router model. Additionally, regardless of satellite placement within my two story home, the latency is kept at a bare minimum.
Thank you for the quick support and awesome product!

New house... Orbi solved our WiFi coverage issue
on May 29, 2019

We just moved into a new house and due to the location of our modem/router, we our WiFi coverage was terrible. I did some research and found good reviews for the NETGEAR Orbi High-Performance AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi System (RBK50). I was a little apprehensive because of the price of the unit, but I am glad I pulled the trigger and purchased it. It was really easy to set up and has worked flawlessly so far. Just for reference: our home was built in 1960, first floor 2800 sq ft, second floor 700 sq ft. One piece of the unit was put in one corner of the first floor and the second piece is centrally located on the second floor. With them located this way I have WiFi coverage all the way from the patio by the pool to the other end of the second floor.

Finally the Wifi problem resolved...

Ok, Orbi isn't cheap at first glance, but it's worth its money! First you can stop buying a new router every 1-2 years that looks more and more like a spider or an alien and consumes more space than your laptop in the hope of solving your "I have no reception in this area" problem. Second you get your whole house covered, full stop. We have a rather large house built in a lengthy shape, and according to Murphy's Law my internet comes in at one of the short ends. So this is where my base sits, the satellite is about in the middle of the house on the 2nd floor - full reception everywhere. And I'm not giving up half of my speed like with a regular repeater. Read a bit online, and you will find out that Orbi is the best mash solution out there. Go buy!

Great wifi extender

I was having trouble with the wi-fi range from my AT&T U-Verse router, so decided to give the Orbi system a try. I'm happy to report it does the trick! While the extended speed isn't quite as fast as the original router, it's much faster (and stronger) than what I was getting in the upstairs of my house. My game systems are upstairs and they weren't getting a strong enough signal to game or download effectively. With this system and the extended routers set up I can now game and stream in those rooms with no issues! Set up was pretty easy, though there were some adjustments required for the AT&T router (done in the router settings). Once that was done it's been smooth sailing ever since. Highly recommended if you have rooms that need a signal.

Best WiFi Ever
on May 29, 2019

This thing is amazing. I just moved from an ~1800 sq foot apartment in to a 2500 sq foot house. In my apartment my WiFI was ok. It worked in most room at an OK speed. I could get about half the speed of my internet connection on a good WiFi signal. This was all on my old AC1200+ router from another company. After moving I setup my new Netgear Orbi RBK50 mesh router. I can't believe the difference. I have a perfect WiFi signal in every corner of my house, and every device is able to utilize the full speed of my internet connection, and that is saying something with a symetrical 300 mbps dedicated fiber connection. This is the first time I haven't felt the need to have a wired connection in every room for high speed needs. My review title says it all.

Powerful, flexible and wicked fast

The RBK50 + RBS50 were relatively easy to set up although the satellite unit needed to be close to the router to sync initially. I chose to use the web set-up rather than the app because I needed advanced features.
I have a mixture of g, n and ac wifi devices and wired machines that all connected flawlessly and fast. I like the web-based management tools for configuring and monitoring devices. The RBK50 replaces an Apple Airport Extreme router.
The units - one upstairs and the other down - provide excellent coverage inside the house and also very adequate to a good distance outside (so I can garden with wifi service).

I was delighted to be able to use the guest network feature which is firewalled for the LAN itself and has a separate password.

Didn't Even Know I Needed It
on May 29, 2019

I didn't even know that I needed this in my life. I have had many routers in the past, the Night Hawk being the most recent before upgrading to this tri-band, whole home system and I can't even believe it works as well as it does! I have had NO lag whatsoever in my Xbox online gaming and none in my Netflix or Hulu streaming. Where normally I would wait for my shows to buffer a bit I have not had to wait once since we installed this! I knew it would make a difference but I truly did not believe it would be this seamless. I have a guest network that is easily connected and even my Ring hasn't disconnected or lost signal like it would on occasion. Really loving this and although it has only been two weeks I am hopeful that it continues to stay this great.
