Excellent mesh router, easy setup, great design

Replaced a Nighthawk X6 R8000 that was still completely functional, but wanted the single SSID and additional features of the Orbi. The fact that the satellite has 4 Ethernet ports is super convenient for my wired gear that's not near my modem or router. Unboxing was very Apple-like, setup was intuitive, and the app is very easy to use. WiFi coverage has improved in some of the far reaching places of my house, like the backyard and front drive way. This seems to have helped some of my smart home IoT devices stay connected and not use as much battery. My wireless iOS devices also pull down around 15-20 mbps higher than with the nighthawk. Wife approves of the physical design of the Orbi router/satellite more than the nighthawk ;)

Does the job so far

I am pleasantly surprised. The devices work well. I have 1 computer in the house that is too far from the router AND needs an ethernet connector. At first for that computer I had one extender and the performance was hit or miss with the load being too much for an extender at times. I bought 2 satellites and the main orbi device. I connected the Ethernet to one of the satellites and my issues were totally resolved. Very pleased. Also my router is in the basement and there were areas upstairs with poor connectivity. The Orbi satellite also resolved that issue. As I expand my home security to place cameras on the outside, I am confident that the orbi will allow for the connectivity for those outdoor cameras. I'm very pleased.

Life changing product!

We have a Verizon Gigabit internet account and two Apple Airport Extremes. One repeats the other. It should've been able to spit out my internet speeds everywhere in my house (it's not that big). Not the case. If I was next to my router, I'd get 300+MBps. If I was upstairs, <5 MBps. And upstairs, I was next to my repeater that said it had a great signal! I tried using another repeater -- same issue. Instead of spending another 25 hours researching and hacking something together (which may have worked), I just bought two Orbis when it went on sale. Ten no-instructions-needed minutes later (including unboxing and putting the second Orbi upstairs), I ran a Speedtest. 750MBps near the router downstairs, 300MBps upstairs. Life. Changed.

Exactly what I expected/needed

Got my Orbi a few days ago. Setup took less than 10 min...seriously. The Orbi app did most of the work too. I have FiOS Gigabit service and right now I am getting 640 download and 157 upload consistently. My dead spots are gone and there is no noticeable lag in any connected devices no matter where they are located in my home. The router itself has a very modern look and blends in to almost any place you choose to place it. I am usually not the type to review anything I purchase, but Orbi solves problems that the FiOS installer could not with my Quantum Gateway router. If I could, I would post images of my speed tests to prove how consistent the speed is, and if I could give Orbi six stars I would. Great product, worth every penny.

EASY PEASEY

This is a great little router and satellite package. It is overall easy to set up, although I did have to call Netgear customer support to get it actually set up. Turned out it was a problem with my modem not the router. however the Netgear customer support took really good care of me and help me figure out that it was definitely the cable modem. Now back to the router I'm getting speeds of 344 Mbps download and 31 Mbps upload consistently and my cable internet is supposed to be 300. I was never able to get more than 90/ 15 with my old setup which was a nighthawk R8000 with an extender in the living room. ( Maybe because I am not very networking savy and had it hooked up inefficiently). That's why I like the Orbi... It is simple!

Super easy install, super effective

The setup only took a minute. I'm a Comcast customer so had to set my xfinity box to bridge mode, and then was basically just plugging everything in. The set up took 5 minutes or less.
And the performance is great. I have the 250MBps option from Comcast, but most of my home (3 floors, about 2500 sq feet) had slow and unreliable WiFi. Most of my home the download speed would be less then 100MBps, and would cut in and out so that a lot of my smart home accessories were constantly losing access to WiFi. Now, the Download speeds for WiFi are hovering around 300MBps throughout my entire home (yeah, I know, faster than I'm paying Comcast for..) and the WiFi is rock steady in every corner of my house. I couldn't be happier.

Fantastic Wifi-- I love it!

I was in the market for wifi after opting out of "renting" Comcast's modem/router setup. When I came across the Orbi wifi router I was skeptical about purchasing the Orbi system, mainly for the price but after much deliberation, I ended up biting and bought the Orbi system and let me tell you... it has been fantastic thus far! The setup was easy and straight forward. You can manage your network straight from your phone off their app. I love that you can add a guest wifi with a separate password for any visitors you may have over. Another thing I like is that you can expand the network square footage by adding another satellite (which I plan on doing when I move into my house in May).
That's why I give this product 5 stars.

Good coverage and fast speed

The 4000+ sqf house had wifi coverage issue in several places, in particular, rooms in the far corner on the second floor. We tried diffrent wifi router and add powerline network and wifi extension. But the issue was two wifi SSIDs and slower speed (using one caused issues). Now by using this RBR50 and place one on the second floor, we have full coverage for the house and speed - second floor far coner reaches 40+Mb/s now vs 12Mb/s before, and now just one SSID. Very happy with the purchase. Setup the device using Android APP is a bit slow and not transparrent. Waited a while for the devices to sync and work with cable modem. Prefer App to display more information during the setup process such as WAN status (IP, DNS etc), sync status.
