Solid Performance and Range

The best of the mesh WiFi systems I've tried. Firmware update allows for a "daisy chain" setup, so the configuration can be: router > satellite > satellite. That is very handy if you have an internet source somewhere other than in the center of your home. Speeds are great. Coverage is excellent as well. When moving to another part of the house with a mobile wifi device (like a cell phone), I sometimes notice a very slight delay while the device connects to the nearest satellite. It is 1 second max, and is not generally an issue, even when using wifi calling. All in all, the Orbi is great and I recommend it to anyone looking for a top notch mesh WiFi system with good speed and coverage.

Don't look anywhere else for a WiFi system

I bought the Orbi a little over a week ago to replace a router that was only two years old. The Orbi absolutely blows the old router out of the water and is amazing. It is easy to use and took only minutes to set up. From there I have WiFi in every nook and cranny of my house thanks to the satlellite and router combo. The speeds are also great and consistent, averaging OVER the speeds I actually pay for (I pay for 150mpbs, Orbi averages 179mbps). Orbi is also able to handle over 30 devices I utilize at once which is nothing short of a seeming miracle compared to other products I have used. I spent weeks comparing products and I couldn't be happier to have the Orbi system in my home.

Orbi RBK50

Am absolutely astonished at how well this setup improved my wifi in my home. It is a 3 level log home, with real logs that prevented signal from reaching approximately 30% of the home, not to mention outside it was almost nonexistent. This system now allows 100% wifi coverage at full speed which I pay for 200mbps, and testing shows consistent 230+! Also have coverage outside the home for about 30 feet! Cannot be happier as this now allows for all of our wifi security cameras to be installed covering our entire property. Cannot recommend enough. Extremely pleased with the performance and wish I would have done this initially instead of spending money on wifi extenders and repeaters.

ORBI Mesh Network
on May 29, 2019

Although the ORBI Mesh network is surprisingly easy to setup (half an hour for three units without typing in anything other than a password) the biggest surprise was its performance. Not only was the speed (throughput) equal to my cable modem at 93 Mbps, but the range at full throughput was astounding. At locations that were 45' from the nearest satellite I still had MAX speed. We now have full speed at all locations in a 4500 sq foot home on three floors. We even have full speed in our garage. An excellent product with unexpected simplicity of setup and superb performance. We liked it so well, we bought a second ORBI set for the office. Same performance - we love the ORBI Mesh Network.

Orbi mesh meets 12 inch thick walls
on May 29, 2019

The problem was to insrall wi-fi in a 4,800 square foot 200 year old house with 12 inch interior and exterior brick walls. Prior to mesh network technology, the only option would be using A wi-fi range extender. With the Orbi mesh system, I was able to install the Orbi router in ta 1st floor central room and then a satellite in the front foyer and another satellite in the 2nd floor hallway. The system self configured and optimized itself and the router reports that satellite connectivity is good. Speedtest scans show upwards of 300MB bandwidth at different location the house. Future expansion of another satellite may be in the future if additional wi-fi connectivity is needed outdoors

Excellent Upgrade from Airports
on May 29, 2019

Pros: Covers my whole house (about 5000 sq ft over 2 levels) plus basement and outside with a strong Wifi signal. Originally had a 5th generation airport extreme downstairs and a 4th generation airport extreme upstairs (hardwired as a repeater) - best I could achieve was 200 Mbps (in the same room as the router), but it varied down to 86 Mbps (like my garage). After installing the Orbi, my best was 760 Mbps (at the router or satellite) and only down to 315 Mbps in my garage. Cons: If you hardwire the satellite, make sure you upgrade the firmware before you connect via ethernet, so ethernet backhaul is recognized . It took me a few tries to realize that this was the holdup on my install.

Well worth it 2x times over

I have been on the search for the best high performance WiFi. I have used Plume, Google WiFi, and others and after paying for 300 Mbps download. I would only be able to get about third the speed averaging about 80-90 Mbps across all others routers. As I work in a 2 floor 7000 square ft house. Most WiFi just don't perform or just have the capability to reach my room witch located on a second floor to the far right of my household. Orbi though comes through being a God send giving be an outstanding 380-400 Mbps download speed when i'm near the router and about 300 Mbps when i'm in my office. Thank You! Netgear for bringing the consumer what they asked for a reliable and strong WiFi connection.

Couldn't be more pleased!

I have a large house and needed larger WIFI coverage than 1 router provided. Tried an extender but that didn't work. Considered access points since I have ethernet in 2 far areas of house, but after reading about Mesh Systems decided that was better way. When ORBI's update included using backhaul, I knew that was the one. It's extremely simple to install. In fact most of my time was unhooking and re-hooking up cables. The setup for a 3 unit ORBI was 1/2 hr. Main thing to remember is to power down your modem and power back-up. I skipped that step and it didn't work and to start over. My ISP provides 100mbs and I now have 90mbs upload at far ends of house and over 70mbs in my garage!
