Exceeds Expectations

Replaced an existing Netgear wireless router with the Orbi, and one satellite. Installation was easy and both reliability and coverage have been flawless. Have a 3400+ sq ft 2-story home with about two doz devices attached. From the automated pool panel at the rear of the property to the cameras in the front, I receive 5 bars, where previously I was struggling to lock in and hold a signal in some places. So pleased I did not fool around signal boosters. Even found an occasion to direct connect a Cat 6 cable directly to the satellite. Only improvement would be another couple of wired cable connection options on the rear of the Orbi base unit. Pricey but worth every penny.

The mesh is the best

We have recently connected to our wi fi with Orbi. I cannot describe how elated we are with this system. For years, we have had a number of dead zones in our house which had limited the locations where we could surf the web, stream without interruption, etc. We had tried "boosters" which were essentially a waste of money and as one techy friend told me, just an expensive book end. The installation of the Orbi system was simple and took no time at all. There was a delay of approximately 15 minutes or so before our devices could lock on to the signal but since then we have had excellent connectivity and all of our devices have functioned in a fashion I have only dreamed of.

Great Upgrade for 3-Story Townhouse Style Row Home
on May 29, 2019

We have had the Orbi system for a couple of weeks, and it has far exceeded my expectations. Our internet coverage is seamless using a single network and speeds/performance have increased dramatically.
Setup is a breeze with the Orbi app, and it has a friendly interface for seeing what devices are on the network.
We have had internet speed/coverage issues since moving from a single story apartment with half the square footage to a 3-Story Townhouse style floor plan with 2000 SF.
I also like the fact that the router and satellite units have ample ethernet ports and a USB port for flexibility and wired connection of device.
Overall, I would highly recommend this product!

Awesome mesh - 0 Dead Spots
on May 29, 2019

This is real good. I had Night Hawk that worked flawless and great. Decided to Up the Wifi and went with this Mesh system of Orbi seeing reviews and I am amazed at which the setup can be done and I am up and running in less than 5 mins. Much time too to wire up and decide where to put the router and satellites. else - the real time to setup is less than 2 mins for sure. Its thats easy and configuring the system too was super easy. Admin tasks was more or like same as Night hawk. What it standout is that covering the whole home under one mesh and superior signal and throughput of what I get from my ISP. HIGHLY Recommend to anyone who wants better wifi performance and great quality.

Big results

We have been very pleased with the performance of the Orbi system. We have a long narrow house that is more horizontal then it is vertical and we're experiencing dead zones in certain areas of the house. Did not allow us the ability to use our nest learning thermostat in order to connect to the Internet. When I began to research mash Internet service it seemed that The Orbi was still the best on the market. And after experiencing the system at our house for a week I could not agree more. This has solved our problems. We may invest in a few more satellites in order to deliver the fastest possible service but for what we need the RBK 50 system out of the box has really delivered.

Orbi... as in Orbit!

The Orbi delivers in what I think is good looking package. Download the Netgear Genie App and you'll have great control of your new network. This is a true evolution of what I had been doing with outdated Apple Routers. The dedicated backhaul WiFi antenas and now with the new firmware is also able to support wired backhaul. I looked at lesser priced options, but Netgear has been doing a good job with firmware updates. I needed the Ethernet ports and four on each of the satellites and 3 on the router was a big plus.. Most competitors skimp on these so in the end the little extra you spend to me is a wash. So far I am digging this AC3000 package with 1 router and 2 satellites.

Blankets my apartment with speedy wifi
on May 29, 2019

Do you need a Mesh WiFi system if you live in a two bedroom apartment? Not if you live in a faraday cage. Since I live in a 200-unit building that's replete with competing signals, sturdy building materials, and a city around me I needed something to properly complement my Gigabit fiber. I bought the RBK50 two-pack and was surprised that it blanketed my entire apartment from corner to corner in nearly 500 mbps throughput. The only missing spot was outside the front door - acceptable considering it was down a long, L-shaped entryway. I added a wall-plug satellite unit which provided up to 250 mbps at the door to cover my Nest Secure and Nest Hello. Very happy with this purchase!

Set it and forget it

After paying month-in and month-out for the terrible wifi router provided by my internet provider, I finally decided to manage my own wifi. Our house is only 1650 square feet, but is long and narrow, additionally, it is an old home with think lath-and-plaster walls. Despite using repeaters and wireless access points, I consistently had dead spots in my house. The Orbi setup took, maybe, a half-hour, and there are no longer deadspots in the house or dropped wifi between the router and the repeater. Wifi works seamlessly throughout the house. I haven't much used the app yet, but like that I can see who is accessing the internet, and disconnect users (read: teenagers) as I see fit.
