This product is a lifesaver!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first received the Phillips Energy Light, I was skeptical about the product. I had been given a free sample of the product in exchange for this review and really had no expectations that this light would do anything to increase my energy level. However, I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the light and the outcomes from using the light. I have a very busy life with a full time job, 2 college classes, and two elementary age children. With all that on my plate, I often get to the middle of the day and start feeling run down. I definitely am not as young as I used to be! But after using the Energy light for a 20 minute period over the last several weeks, I have noticed a significant up swing in my ability to get through the day without feeling completely fatigued. With just 20 minutes a day of exposure to the light, I have been able to avoid taking a cat nap every day when I get home from work and spent that time doing things around my house or spending time with my kids. I feel rested during the day at work and have been able to incorporate the time I spend in front of the light into time that I would normally be sitting at my desk working. It has been very nice to be able to multitask so that I don`t fall behind in my work, but can still remain mentally alert during the work day.
My one suggestion would be to make an energy light that travels with a little more ease. The Phillips Energy Light is able to fit into a backpack easily, but it could prove cumbersome to travel back and forth to home and work with the light.
I would definitely recommend using the Phillips Energy Light if you find yourself needing a daily dose of energy while maintaining a busy work and personal life.
Pros: easy to use, lightweight, product delivers on its promise!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sent a free sample of this product to evaluate in exchange for a completely honest review of the product. I've used the Philips Natural Energy White Light Therapy Medical Grade pretty much every day since I received it. I used it for more than an hour most days: I found it best to set it up next you as you sit next to your computer and do your normal "computer things". At first, it does seem like a spotlight shining at your face, but you quickly become accustomed to it and are able to ignore it. I had it shining on one side of my face for a few days, then set it on the other side, in case it tanned me. (It did not tan me).
In sum: I really didn't notice a difference one way or the other. I got a cold while using it, but for that: I blame work.
I will continue to use the device to see if there is an improvement one way or the other, and my girlfriend is eager to try it. But I have seen nothing to say this is a good product or a bad product, other than to say, it may take more than 2 weeks to see a result.
Pros: setup is simple
Cons: the power cord is short

Interesting Concept

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free in exchange for making an honest review. I thought the Phillips Natural Energy White Light was an interesting idea, but I didn`t think it would actually do what it claimed - give energy, and increase mood.
I ended up being surprised that it did make me feel better. I`m not a fan of Winter or cloudy weather, and it is easy for me to feel depressed during these times, so it was nice to have a bright light on me, creating the allusion of sunlight.
Evening time is when I start to lose energy, but there is always still a lot I need to get done at that time. I was curious if the light would actually give me energy. Although it was subtle, I did see a slight difference in motivation to get things done when the light was on.

On the flip side though, of the light was too bright, it actually made my eyes heavy and I felt sleepy. Going along with that, it was nice that there was a setting for the light to be dimmer. Best of all, it made a good reading/work light while in use!
I probably wouldn`t buy it if I was looking for something to increase my mood and energy significantly, but it is a good concept and possible alternative treatment for people who struggle with lack of energy and bad moods.

Noticeable positive effects after a few days use

I have always depressed and moody in the winter time, so when I knew I'd be given the opportunity to test this product, I was excited. I have never used light therapy before, so I wanted to read up on it before I began using the product. From reading various article about light therapy, I hoped it could make me feel more alert in the mornings (I am not a morning person), and be in an overall better mood.
When you open the box, you'll find the light is really big, like slightly taller than a dinner plate. However it's not heavy. I wouldn't recommend, though, taking it from home to work because of its size. It has a sturdy kickstand on the back that allows you to have it stand at multiple angles. Underneath the light I found the power cord. That's all there is to it. You plug the light in and you're ready.
Day 1: This device has multiple settings for brightness, and they all are quite bright. I started at 8am with the second to highest brightness, though the directions clearly recommend to start low and work your way up. The device has a built in timer that works in 10 minute increments, which I appreciated. I decided to start with 20 minutes. After using the device, I had a very mild headache, almost not noticeable, though the instructions said this might happen. Throughout the day I felt no different.
Day 2: I stayed with the 2nd to highest brightness. 8am start time. 30 minutes this time. I got another mild headache that subsided within 30 minutes. Within the next few hours, I honestly felt more alert and in a much better mood than normal. The better mood was more noticeable as I've found myself having stupid negative thoughts throughout December, and especially January. I was surprised how quickly the effects took place as I read it could take 1-2 weeks, though some effects will be noticeable within a day.
Day 3 and beyond: I used the light 5 out of 7 days at the start of each day. Though I wanted to use it every day, I wanted to see if I was making myself believe I was in a better mood, or if the light therapy was actually working. Turns out, the things actually worked. I didn't use it one work day, and one weekend day, and found that both days just felt off. Little things bugged me easier, and I wasn't as happy. The headaches went away when I used the light consistently, which I was thankful for.
Conclusion: I wish I would have discovered light therapy years ago. It's not as though it suddenly changed me from being a grump to the happiest person on earth, but I felt noticeable changes after two days in both my alertness in the mornings, and in my mood throughout the day.

I feel energized!

I get down in the winter months and I think it helped. I used the energy light every morning upon waking for about 20 minutes and it definitely helped me get going without dragging so much in the morning! It was easy to assemble... just unbox and you`re in business!

provides energy and improves mood everyday

The product comes completely assembled and the packaging was nice and easy to open. The only assembly was to plug it in which was extremely easy.The set up and directions for use were really easy. The manual is very descriptive of how you should use the light and what time of day is best for you to use it based on your schedule, whether you`re a morning/night person, etc.
I live in an apartment with no direct sunlight and live in the Northeast and have been using the product for about 20 days now at home and find that it helps in enhancing my mood. This product is really nice and useful for places where natural light is not easily available. I started to feel the positive effects of the light therapy in just a few days. I was able to use the light while working on my computer at home. I can honestly say that I was feeling more energy later in the day. It helps in increasing the energy level and mood. The best part of the device is that you can also adjust the levels of brightness on the device. The options for the brightness of the light helps a lot as I like to adjust the brightness depending on the light outside. It has a sleek design with just three buttons on it - Power, and two for varying the intensity. The intensity settings are useful. The build of the unit is high quality and durable and is stylish. The stand that comes with it is sturdy enough to hold the light in place. It is extremely easy to use!
My only issue with the light is the actual size of the unit. It is about twice the size of what I was expecting. I was hoping to be able to bring the unit to work with me and use it there, but it is just too big for that.
Overall, I am impressed with this light and the quality of the device and would recommend the Philips Energy Light for anyone in the market for one.

Helps feel more awake, energized

I received this light therapy sample to review, and it exceeded my expectations. Weather in Ohio is often grey and dreary in the Winter, and it makes it hard to get up and get moving in the mornings. After trying it the first morning after receiving, I did feel more awake. The next few mornings, I was looking forward to using it, and now it has become part of my routine. The slim design and easel backing fits nicely in small areas, and it`s easy to use and adjust the brightness. It`s cord is much longer than a traditional lamp, so I am able to have it up high and out of the way.
Pros: lightweight slim design, long cord, adjustable brightness

Larger than expected

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free in exchange for writing this review. The light is larger than expected, but very sturdy and very bright. It definitely gives the feeling of being outside even when you have no natural light. I don’t know if it helped with my mood or energy levels, but it’s a great lighting options for room with no daylight.
