Doesn't work as a phone

This phone works great as long as you're not trying to use it to make calls. When trying to use this phone as a phone you can't hear anybody that you're trying to talk to you have to put it on speaker phone to actually be able to hear them I would not recommend this phone if you're going to use it for speaking to people.

Samsung Galaxy Active S6 upgrade to S8

I really enjoy the Galaxy Active S8. I would like to see the Active phones have a spot for additional micro usb chips to augment the memory and have removable memory. The larger screen is much better. I would also like a slightly more textured back for gripping.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Within 24 hours of having the phone and being very careful with it, I noticed a tiny crack. It looked more of like a pinhole. A couple days after there was another and another. Next thing I know, there are 5 little cracks all over my screen. I continued to use it and not worry about them, but now it shattered. I had my phone on my desk and accidentally dropped a key on it from about 6 inches up and it shattered!!! This is supposed to be an active and it's not supposed to shatter like that! The screen lags sometimes, but besides these two HUGE issues, it hasn't been that bad of a phone.

I got this just before i left for MCT after boot camp thinking i have got a pretty alright phone that wont let me down. But in actuality it stabbed me in the back. First the screen just stopped working entirely. It was a weekend as well where the power went out on base. Just a sad sequence of events. After I managed to make it run out of power it worked after charging it some time later. All was well, until a month later were it stopped charging. IVE HAD ENOUGH! My last phone was a relic compared to this but also didn't discombobulate after a short time. Its ridiculous. Steer clear kiddos.

I still would rather have a physical home key and you cant get glass screen protectors for it because they removed the screen sensitivity settings so you cant up it. As well as an awkward finger print scanner. And my nephew of 14 was jogging fell out of his pocket cracked the screen so they are not that durable. My s7 active flew off my car by accident and not a scratch only had a case. I think i might return the 6 i bought for me and my family and walk away from Samsung sadly i dont want edges and i dont want digital buttons they suckkk.

This phone's screen cracks just sitting in your pocket. It is the most fragile phone ever because of the curved screen. Do yourself a favor and skip this piece of junk.

Good but not great...

I have waited months for this phone as I thought it would be the perfect S8. Going from an old Note3.
First disappointment: Although it is a hardier case, it is VERY slippery and I had to get a external case anyway just to get some tactile feel in order to easily pick it up.
Second disappointment: Email setup gave me fits until I figured what to do. If you have multiple email accounts (I had 8 different accounts), add each individually at about 1 hr intervals and will setup correctly. The original problem was I had added the accounts all at once and had a horror show of the same emails downloading continually for hours. Turns out it confused the email app to connect all of them at same time.
Third disappointment: Although the battery is much larger, battery life is quite poor. I've already turned off most notifications and automatic updates just to keep battery life. Thank god it has wireless charging, as I have three stations around the house and office to drop off the phone when not in use. I lose 15% overnight in standby mode alone. Doesn't sound right to me.
4th: Screen is still not bright enough. Max brightness is pathetic outdoors.
5th: Bluetooth max sound level is lower than prior Note 3. Had to find an app to boost it. I do like that it still has a 1/4" headphone jack, but will miss the IR blaster from Note 3. Most of my home electronics are still IR remote controlled so kept old Note 3 as a wifi device to use for that.
6th: You used to be able to adjust screen touch sensitivity, now you can't. If you add a screen protector, you will have to touch a bit harder, more than you think.
Biggest plus for me is it is narrower and fits my hand better, and it is MUCH faster (about 8x) than old Note 3.
