I went from a Galaxy S5 Active, to the Galaxy S8 Active. Huge step up. Great phone. Nice picture quality, super fast.

The phone does not have good response when pushing buttons or fields. There are three screens before you get into the phone. The sleep screen, a second screen a security screen finally your in. Very frustrating.
The buttons on the bottom are not real like the last phone. You must swipe up to get a return button and it pops up over the delete button. There is a fear your going to delete rather than return.
The features on the last galaxy were much better. I can hardly wait to get my next phone. I have only bad this one a month.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Samsung galaxy S8 model beats the market of cellphone. S8 active makes it better Samsung galaxy S8 model beat the world of cellphones. Galaxy S8 active with its durability, longer-lasting battery. Many people who are not technology savvy and find it hard to explore the features on galaxy S8 model may write different things in their reviews; however, this model is great. I like the elimination of buttons at bottom of the screen to give larger screen ratio to size of phone. I have always wanted button at bottom of phone screens to be eliminated because buttons get loosed, seized after long use. Bixby works very well even for shopping Fingerprint, facial recognition to unlock the phone are superb. I love its design too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I used to use my S5 active as a remote for all sorts of different TVs and other devices. I can't do that with the S8 active because it doesn't have an InfraRed blaster.
The battery life is great but other than that this phone is very ho-hum and fairly disappointing.

The new phone takes a bit to get use to using. The biggest challenge to using the new device is that in many different apps especially using the internet it is difficult to go back or to the last screen easily.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Phone with Excellent Protection

I love the Active line of phones because I enjoy the Galaxy series, but dislike how fragle those phones have become. The S8 has an all-glass body that is an instant turn off for me since most cases either hide the phone color or adds a lot of bulk. I miss the physical buttons of previous Active phones, and the screen is capable of surface marks and scratches due to the coating they used to achieve the shatter-resistant display that the normal S8 doesn't have. I put a Zagg screen protector on mine and it works just fine - it is a trade off for the piece of mind for near shatterproof quality.
A great phone with an amazing battery (4000 mHZ) which is much larger than both the S8 and S8+. Naturally, its heavier than those models, but the flat display screen is more to my liking as opposed to the forced curved edges of the other models.
Highly recommended with the purchase of a screen protector.
