Great Phone but Get a Screen Protector

The most common complaint I have seen on this phone is how easily the screen can scratch. As common with newer shatterproof screens, they are more prone to surface and hairline scratches. I invested in a ZAGG screen protector and since the S8 Active has a flat screen as opposed to a curved edge one that the S8 and S8+ has, it went on flawlessly and stays put.
As for the phone itself, it's bulky, but I love the added feeling of extra protection on the sides and back instead of the all glass casing used in other models. The 64GB internal memory is massive, but the biggest draw is the huge battery (4000 mAh). It will easily last a full day or longer with regular everyday use.
I would highly recommend it with a screen protector!
Pros: Bright display, Durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thought this was rugged., glass scratches to easily. I buy the active line of phones so I don't have to use a case. I had as s6 active for 2 years that has less scratches then thiss s8 active in 2 months .I like to return this phone and get my s6 active back.
Pros: Realistic color, none actually heavier the my s6 active
Cons: Too big, Poor quality, glass scratches to easy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I made the biggest mistake getting this phone. I used to have the s5 active and the screen was much more scratch resistant the this. I already have scratches from normal use after less then a month. Screen seems to be made of cheap plastic
Cons: Did not meet expectations, screen horrible
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not worth the money - stay away.

After owning many smartphones over 9 years, I dropped my imported Galaxy S7 Edge and broke the screen. Since U.S. retailers won't repair an imported phone, I decided to buy an S8 Active believing the durability hype.
I now sincerely regret my purchase. It is less responsive than the S7 Edge - it constantly thinks I am sliding instead of clicking, is much slower overall for all O/S functions and seems to have a mind of it's own as far as notifications. Google has decided to inundate me with ads based on my location without me ever opting in for any of it. I can't walk down a city street without a beep to tell me about some sale happening at a store nearby or to tell me about a great restaurant in which I am already dining. Typing on it is a pain, as well; I can't send texts or emails without it registering incorrect keys.
As for durability, my screen was pitted within 2 weeks of owning the phone. I also have visible scratches on it even though I keep it in a belt holster with a soft fabric liner - there's never a time when anything hard touches the screen. Out of all my phones I've owned, this is a the softest and weakest screen I have experienced. My S7 Edge, after more than year of ownership, has no noticeable scratches.
The Bixby button is also a huge pain. Due to its placement, I constantly push it accidentally and Bixby pops up, stopping whatever I'm doing at the time. Samsung does not allow developers to remap the button and I can't seem to disable it, either. Even with 'Bibxy Home' disabled in Settings, it still works.
Stay away. Stay very far away. Far too expensive for the poor quality.
Cons: too expensive, poor performance, screen durability
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
