Excellent Quality & Performance

I bought this phone in the fall of 2017, it is now mid 2019 and it has done a superb job for me. It is very rugged, the battery life lasts as advertised, and nothing has slowed down the performance as it's capabilities can handle anything that has come out since its availablility. I am now an Active avid fan and will continue to purchase / use one when / if they continue providing one in the future.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Amazing product

I got my Galaxy S8 Active on Monday and have fell in love with it. I was using an iPhone however this is a much easier phone to operate and is much nicer. If you are looking to switch or just looking to upgrade I strongly recommend this phone. The battery life is amazing, video and sound quality are better than my old iPhone. This is a must buy.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight, Built-in speakers, excellent battery life

I've had this phone for a few months and I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on it. I had it for a day before my earring scratched the screen. I also pulled it out of my pocket and noticed there is a chip in the middle of the screen. Before this phone I had the S5 active and accidentally ran it over with my car and it didn't have a single scratch on it. The battery life isn't all that great. Bixby is a major inconvenience; it wouldn't be so bad if you could at least choose which app to use for the extra button they added. Overall I'm very unimpressed with this phone and I will be switching to a different brand once I'm done paying this one off.
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, Poor quality, not durable

GREAT until 1ft fall cracked screen

I've had the device for less then a week... just finished cleaning my new super durable GS8 Active when it ships out of my hand and right onto the floor... I initially thought nothing of it. However, while looking at my phone in the bright sunlight I noticed an abnormality on the screen. It appears the shatterproof glass had indeed a small shatter / crack. The display, Iris scanner, new placement of the fingerprint scanner, as well as the improved camera and expandable memory are all great. However, considering all the hype on the durability of the screen, such a small and insignificant fall a foot from the floor, means this crack in the screen does a lot of damage to the review of the phone.
Pros: Bright display, iris scanner, no hard nav buttons
Cons: Did not meet expectations, Poor quality, 1ft fall to floor cracked glass

I was happier with my previous S-6 Active phone.

I have had this phone for a year and a half now and I am getting less satisfied as time goes on. I had an S-6 Active that I loved for almost the entire time until I traded it in for this phone. The S-6 battery lasted longer and only started to bug me about two months prior to trading it in. With the S-8 active, the battery began degrading after the first 6 months. Ii has been steadily degrading to where I have to carry a portable charger with me daily. I also noticed as some of the other folks that rated the phone mentioned the screen scuffs and scratches easier than the S-6 and S-7 models. I also carried the phone in my jean pocket as did my S-6 and it has not held up as well. The newer Gorilla Glass to me has not performed as expected. I have also had issues with the charging port indicating moister when I barely got the phone wet, and have had the phone indicate it was overheated when I had it outside in the sun too long. Finally, several people complain when I talk with them I have to hold the phone close to my mouth or they cannot hear me properly. This may be an active issue where the microphone is behind some protective covering, I am not sure. Wrapping up, I bought this phone after being very impressed with moving up from my original S-4 to my old S-6 active. I feel the concept of the Active series is great if Samsung can figure a way to redesign the phones to meet the advertised specifications again.

This is the best version of the S8 you can buy. I will always recommend the Active series over the regular S for the long battery life, durability, and flat screen.. I'm not sure why the prices are still so high when you can buy the S9+ for $300 less now. Also, why are there reviews of the Sprint version of the phone on the Tmobile version here? I've had the phone for over a year and have had zero problems with the Tmobile version. Call quality is great on Tmobile.

Softest Screen Ever

I bought this phone from the Active line because I can't stand having a bulky case over my phone just to keep it looking good. I had my S6 Active for over 2 years of use with it constantly going in and out of my pocket and it's screen shows half the micro scratches that this one does and I've only had the S8 Active for a month! I've been a Samsung fan since my old Captivate, but this has been the worst experience I've ever had with a Galaxy device. It's also the first phone I've bought since AT&T dropped contract subsidies. So, I'm paying 4 TIMES the amount that I did for my last phone, and I get this scratch magnet. Fix this... (And no one likes TouchWiz or Bixby)
