I loved this phone and it failed me.

I brought this phone in 6/2018. Loved it. No issues, great pictures. No problems. Then today, the day before a huge event where I need my phone. It just stopped working. Turns out the battery is swollen. Took it to three repair centers. One could fix it. One said it could not be fixed. The third said Samsung does not supply replacement parts for the active. Because the phone is so could, I got rid of my landline. Now I have no workable phone. (Sigh). So trying tomorrow to bring to a Samsung service station. Hopefully they can replace the battery. If not I have to buy a new phone and figure out how to get stuff off this one. So annoyed right now. Not even 2 years old.

Best phone on market

I upgraded from the S7 Active. The new Active 8 is unbelievable, I can go 2 days without charging my phone (normal use). I've already have dropped this multiple times and not a scratch on it. Color and screen is the best on the market. I did notice they got rid of the aqua view in the camera settings. Also wish they would of upgraded the camera, but again its still the best camera on the market. I did just purchase a screen protector for it the other day. The speaker is better. Overall I am happy with this phone.
My previous phone was a S7. I purchased my S8 Active in late December 2017. The S9 Active is faster and its durability is wonderful. I cracked my S7 screen many times and sometimes I feel like this S9 is impossible to break (exaggeration of course). The only con is this may be the last Samsung Active? :( I recommend this phone to everyone I can.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I loved my S7 Active, but this phone blows it away! The battery life is fantastic, it runs very fast, and the camera takes excellent pics! All previous versions of Samsung's Galaxy line pale in comparison. Soooo glad I upgraded to the S8 Active!
Pros: Bright display, Durable
Cons: it doesn't make sandwiches (yet!)
I would recommend this to a friend!

The only two problems that I have come across with this phone is 1. No ability to replace battery and 2. The charging port seems to have a problem with the material coming apart.
Pros: Durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not for the "Active" person

The phone is bulky and heavier then other phones. Something some people may actually like (me being one of them). The phone performs about as well as you'd expect. The battery life is the best I have ever seen, lasting all day with room to spare (time will tell if this continues) . The screen is supposedly shatter resistant, but as I learned scratches VERY EASILY! As I learned after the fact the screen is "soft" due to a protective film that covers it. From what I experienced and a little research it seems the screen can become scratched simply by placing it in and removing it from the pocket of a pair of jeans. That's even with a case on it (no screen protector, didn't think one was needed, but I was wrong). For being marketed as a rugged phone this is simply unacceptable. I have had this phone for 1 month and will now have to spend more money (and the phone is not cheap) to fix it, or go the next 23 months with very annoying and noticeable scratches. However, I fear fixing the phone will be a waste of money as it will surely get scratched again. If I could do it again I would avoid the active and get a normal s8 and get a good case. That or avoid Samsung all together.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, Poor quality, scratches easily

I have had this phone for approximately a year now and overall its an ok phone. 6 months after i bought the phone i noticed that the screen started to get marks(like when tvs get old or you seen the burn marks on tv screens at stores from being on all the time) I do not feel that at this point the phone should have any type of screen issues especially since i do not game or use it extensively to grant issues to the screen. That said, a couple months ago I ran it over with a light weight sedan and it survived. it had a couple of indentations from the black top but screen/ phone was intact. Those are my pros and cons. I could go more into detail since i recently started to play games on it but dont have enough info to give it a fair rating.
