Samsung is the best, and now that it's water proof, what more can you ask for?

The new Samsung active line is a far cry from the separation between regular phone and rugged phone that was the active S7 and its predecessors. Gone are the physical buttons that line the bottom of the phone so say goodbye to using your rugged outdoor active phone with gloves or if the screence is wet once so ever. At least the battery is big......

Couldn't be happier

I haven't had a phone with an all day battery since my last flip phone 13 years ago. In medium battery save mode my s7 edge was dead by 3 p.m. normally without a charge. This phone is much faster and without power saving mode at all I usually go to bed with 20 - 30% left.

After recently upgrading from my old s5 active I was kinda skeptical because it doesn't have the physical buttons like the active series used to have but I've gotten mostly used to the swipe up from the bottom to slide the menu into view. It runs my game apps very smooth and the 64gb internal storage means I have plenty of room for app and system upgrades. They only thing it doesn't have is the ir blaster so I can't use it as a universal remote. The best perk of the phone is the biometric fingerprint on the back. It takes getting used to as it's on the right side of the camera so you have to stretch your finger slightly but you get used to it and it will feel natural. Plus the Samsung pass app will link your passwords on the internet with your fingerprint to log you in and if you are really paranoid about phone security you can have it factory reset your phone after 15 failed attempts to unlock the phone. Another downside is that you can't remove the battery to reset the phone like the older phones but that is becoming an industry standard. All in all the s8 active seems to be a great phone and Samsung has come a long way since the s5 active.

DO NOT BUY

The absolute worst, most problematic phone I have ever owned. It is less than 4 months old and gives me nothing but problems. Apps wont open, black screen, connections issues, freezing, problems with charging... It never ends. I can't wait to get rid of this phone.

Finger print recognition

I reall like the active phones as I drop the phone many times, not puposely mind you. That is why I buy them because they hold up to clumsy people like me. The only issue i have with the s8 is the design that has the fingerprint recognition on the back of the phone. I dislike it very much. You have to look on the vqck of the phone to make sure that your finger is covering the sensor. If i dont it is hit or miss. I am right handed and have scanned my fingerprint for the left hand in 2 different entries. Again hit or miss. Mistly miss. I really would have designed it as the s7 had it ion the front or for this one. The sides would have been the ideal place to open from secure quickly please excuse miss spelled words as this does not let you go back and correct unless you delete the whole sentence.
