I bought this phone 5 months ago and it continues to work reliably with no issues at all. The phone never gets hot, display is smooth and fast running as well as sharing the Internet to my house and all PC/laptop devices. This is the best and fastest phone I have ever had.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I really enjoyed this phone as long as it worked. It is fast with great battery life, fast charging, durable with a grwat camera. Unfortunately, morherboard died after 6 months and phone became unuseable constantly rebooting. I replaced it with S9 but really miss S8 active.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, Durable
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations

I have had this phone for 7 years and absolutely love it. I hate that I have to upgrade because of the OS. Phone still works great.

Awesome screen that can't scratch! What?!

I'm writing this review to clear up quite a few bad reviews. The screen does not scratch! The screen protector scratches. Yes, it comes with a factor screen protector, so I replaced mine with a glass one and it doesn't even look like I have a screen protector on it.
Also, it is most definitely water resistant. I have spent hours with it in the water, and my only complaint is it takes a while to dry out the USB port, but good thing I have a giant battery on this thing.
I have dropped this phone a lot of times and I have a few nicks on the edges, but I hate cases so it's worth it. My GF has broken multiple phones, so I had her buy this one and she couldn't be happier. I understand that you can still break the phone, but just look up drop tests on it. You're very unlucky if you break this phone, but it's a phone not a slab of iron.
This also by far the best active design yet because it didn't sacrifice any of the features of the S8--it added features (mainly bigger battery). We have had our phones for over a year and I hope Samsung keeps their Active line going. It's the only reason I haven't switched phones or carriers, so someone at both AT&T and SAMSUNG should realize how valuable these phones are for retaining customers.

It's a tank and a Ferrari in a cellphone.

I've had this phone for almost 2 years now. I've dropped it over 50 times now, all of them with enough velocity to shatter an iPhone. Mind you I've never had a case on this phone. The outer metal casing is covered in scratches and dents as the lions in Africa are covered in battle scars. I use this phone all day long every day. I have it loaded with Flac music files and location services turned on. I use GPS all night because I deliver pizza. The huge battery is still enough to get me through the work day without dying when I turn screen detail down to hd+. The type of gorilla glass they used on the screen is amazing. I have deep dents and scratches on the screen but the s8 active doesn't even flinch. Performance is still 100% even with over 100 google chrome tabs open at a time. I AM SAD that they are not making an s10 active. I will have to buy the note 10 and use an ugly screen protector and case. Nothing can replace the daily comfort that this phone provides. Now that I think of it. I might just buy another S8 active when this one dies. It should last a very long time though. Photography is amazing in this phone aswell.

Do you want a phone with the ruggedness of a Lifeproof or Otterbox Case? Do you want the battery life that can last more than 12 hours with heavy usage? Want a screen that’s beautiful but not made of the cheapest glass someone can glue onto a frame? Those and so much more? Then I think the Galaxy S8 Active is for you.
The battery life of the S8 Active is nothing short of great. It has a 4000 mAh battery that even with playing games and going on youtube for hours, I still have more than 50% battery within 12 hours. If you just keep this in your pocket and use it to listen to music, respond to texts here and there along with a few calls, this battery should easily last you a day if not more.
For durability, it’s true, the raw screen itself is prone to scratches, but it’s definitely shatter/crack proof. I’ve dropped this thing on metal surfaces at a gym a few times and there are both no scratches and no cracks of any sort. The phone has a pretty rubber back with a metal frame with super-sturdy construction. If tight pants and phones don’t make a good combo, it’ll probably be because the pants break first. The only thing this thing needs to be really safe from any long-term exposure to wear and tear is a dedicated anti-scratch screen protector. Although in 1 year the phone may perform perfectly, the scratches on the screen may make it look like a 3 - 4 year old phone.
The Cameras are great. The Back camera can go up to 12 mega pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and 9.1 mega pixels with a 9:1 aspect ratio. The front facing camera can go up to 8 mega pixels with an aspect ratio of 4:3.
The displace can scale from 1480x720, 2220x1080 and 2960x1440. I use 2220x1080, and the great detail for any application, videos, game, regular use, is way more for me than needed to satisfy my detail crave.
Connectivity is standard but still good on this phone. You have a SIM/micro SD card slot in a form like the apple phones, a USB C port and something Apple phones lack, a 3.5 mm audio slot. Connecting to a PC is much easier compared to my old phone. The old phone I had would connect and disconnect from PC’s when trying to transfer files which got annoying to no end. But the OS on the S8 Active (probably same as the regular S8) allows you to easily switch connectivity modes to fix anything if you can’t transfer files correctly the first time. Processing power on this thing is great. It’s got a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 with 8 CPU cores. For most modern applications at the writing of this review, there isn’t much I can throw at it that it can’t go through easily. You can play games and multi-task at the expense of some battery life, but you can definitely do it.
I’ve had no real problems with this phone, just amazement and satisfaction. If you just want a phone without needing to deal with a case and can take the blow of sacrificing the regular S8’s curved corner screen, then this phone is a serious must get.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, Built-in speakers, great battery
Cons: prone to screen scratch marks
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had a Galaxy S8 Active for almost 2 years now and I could not be happier. It has been wet, it has been dropped, thrown, rolled on tile corner to corner across the office dropped flat on the glass slipped out of my hand and fallen over 6 feet to the floor, full of sand and more. It has a few scuffs on the case but works beautifully. I brag about it to anyone who will listen or is standing around with a broken screen. Keep up the great work Samsung this is how durable a phone should be.

Excellent Durability

I have had this phone for over a year and it has performed perfectly. In my line of work my phone needs to take a beating(and it has). I have dropped my S8 Active countless times and today it truly amazed me. My phone fell about 16 feet and landed in diesel fuel. Due to accesability issues it was submerged for about 45 minutes before I could fish it out. IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY! I couldn't be more pleased with Samsung, by far the best product on the market .
