The perfect phone for ME

Let's clarify this. This phone is NOT for everyone. It's big, it's bulky, it's heavy.
But it's an absolute tank. Mine has been with me since they launched it. It's been soaked, frozen, knocked around, dragged thru the mud, sand, and snow... all with a big ol' smile on it's face. It'll last 2 whole days on a single charge, and it'll be ready to roll again in no time. And after a year away from the Active line, it's good to be back! Spent a year being afraid of hurting my S7 Edge (even in a heavy duty case with a screen protector). Never worried about that stuff with a Galaxy Active (4, 5, 6 and now the 8).
Other folks have cried about the screen getting scratched. That's the trade off for the extra shatter resistance. Simple solution, add that lovely tempered glass screen protector. Let that shatter if need be. Put it in a QUALITY case like Unicorn Beetle. It'll add bulk but it's just extra insurance. It's not invincible, but it's as close as you can get.
As for performance, NOTHING in the rugged phone world competes. There's no mid to low end stuff going on here. No corners were cut in the guts or camera of this phone. It will do everything the regular S8 flagships do.
For people looking at this phone and have no plans to take it where phones don't belong, or want a pretty phone, just get the regular S8. Save the bashing of this phone for the real world not online reviews.

It is just okay

I love this phone overall, but the moisture protection is a joke. It is almost enough to make me trade in the phone. Even if the phone is in my pocket, sometimes the phone will register moisture in the charging port and not let me plug it in. I am far to active and need my phone far too much for work to wait hours to be able to charge it up. Other than that it is a good phone...but that is a major detractor for me.

First Time Smart Phone User

Went from a Samsung Flip Phone to the S8 Active. The S8 Active has way more bells and whistles than I would need, but then what phone wouldn't when you upgrade from a Flipper. Decided on this phone due to the specifications that stated that was tougher and had a better battery life that other models. It seams to work fine. I wish that there would be a better owners manual in the box. I know you can go online but when you have such a drastic change from a Flipper to an S8 Active it would be nice to be able to look at a book to figure things out while you are not at a computer or having to waste a lot of time looking things up and printing things out. Also a user guide for Dummies would be great for people like me!

My first Samsung phone. Had HTC phones before. So far the S8 active is a awesome phone only had it since it came out a few weeks ago. Time will tell for the long haul.

Perfect Upgrade

I have had the S5 Active since it was first released. Easily my favorite phone. I have waiting for an upgrade for sometime. And... We finally got it. The S8 Active is perfect. One reviewer said the screen gets scratched easily with day to day use (in/out pockets). But, I will tell you, that's not true. The screen is fantastic, no scratches (I only wear jeans), no issues. The phone is fast, responsive, with upgradeable storage, and very solid/reliable. Much like the S5 Active. I am very happy.

This phone is amazing, I like the active and the 8 is amazing. Battery life is amazing, after all day I'm still at 50%. The phones operates smoothly and quick. Takes a little getting used to but everything about the phone is user friendly. Screen clarity and camera quality is a 10. I recommend to everyone!

I absolutely love my s8 active. I had the s5 active and had been waiting to upgrade. This phone is well worth it. I love the fact the battery last so long and alot of features this phone offers.

I just got theGalaxy S8 Active and it is "ok" honestly, I see very few upgrades from my galaxy s4. I HATE not having home button.....
