Drop proof metal phone

Surfing the net while sleepy I would drop it almost every night. I took the cover off a year ago so I can charge wirelessly and still it doesn't have a crack or scuff the gold paint is intact. The phone is still fast and I have no complaints. As far as value goes I THINK, I paid $50 more for the active which comes constucted in metal and it's well worth the $50. If Samsung makes a Galaxy S11 Active I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Toughest phone ever!

my husband and I bought our practice 2 years ago. It has been by far the best phone we've ever owned. Samsung were a little upset and disappointed that you are not making a newer better version with the same caliber. My husband and I are not phone aficionados who need all the bells and whistles with the next newest thing. We just need durability and functionality. And this phone has it all. We absolutely love the long lasting battery life and the toughness of this phone! It truly can take anything. I am amazed at how many times I've dropped my phone, on concrete no less, and have cringed as I see it in slow motion tumbling to the ground and instantly think 'oh gosh now I need a new phone'! But nope I pick it up and nothing is wrong with it Every. Single. Time. We absolutely love this phone, but we wish there was a newer model out there as everyone does like to upgrade and it would be nice to do so. Samsung make another military grade phone people will buy it! I love Samsung products!

Perfect and practically indestructible!

I've had this phone for about two years now and it's the best phone I've owned to date. Love the style and overall quality. The durability is unlike anything I've experienced in a cell phone. I hope they bring back the Active with the newer models. Please!

Can't Get Much Better

I have had this phone for over a year and I can easily say it's the best phone I've ever had. The #1 I appreciate so much about the S8 active is the battery life! I work 10 hour days, 6 days a week usually and I use my phone a lot at work (phone calls, camera, texting, browsers, and socials media apps on my breaks). I almost always leave work with about 40 to 50 % battery remaining without charging it all day.
I have used a Zagg Invisible Shield glass+ on my screen for the entire time I've had it and the screen itself is in perfect condition under that glass. I would recommend if you buy this phone or any phone really, the glass you use with it needs to cover everything except the front speaker because my front camera got really scratched and now it takes relatively bad quality front camera pictures. I would have to say that the camera quality is the worst part about this phone (and all Samsung phones that I've had) for both the front and back cameras. Apple has us beat on that front.
I have also used a Pelican case the entire time I've had this phone. I understand the point of the S8 active was that it doesn't need a case but frankly I don't like any scratches on my phone. The case is in rough shape now and I would recommend Pelican for this phone but I'll save that for a different review.
The fingerprint scanner placement could not be more perfect in my opinion. Also the heart rate monitor was such a good idea and I hope Samsung continues to do that. I heavily recommend the Samsung Health app. I use it all the time for my workouts and calorie counting.
I will miss this phone when I have to upgrade!

i've been rocking the samsung galaxy s8 active for almost 3 years. i have never loved a phone so much. no need for a case or a screen protector. it's legit survived a roll over car crash. i really wish samsung would create an updated version of this one.

Best Phone I had since the 80s

the last samsung i had was the s3 that was a great phone for the time. that s3 in now about 10 years 9 years old and still works great. this s8 has taken the same path. always reliable and never glitchy. going on three years and this phone is a charm. i heard they will not make a high end rugged phone anymore. that's a shame because i love this thing .
