Same issue as everyone else, won't turn off.

Seems this is a regular issue with this microwave. Mine will also continue to run. Door has to be kept open and you have to watch the timer while food is cooking because the microwave will continue heating/cooking after the timer is done. I don't understand why whirlpool has not addressed this issue via recall? (I have not seen one anyway) Majority of the reviews here all seem to be the same as well. This was a very expensive microwave and should not be having this type of issue or at the very least, the company that makes it should be trying to fix it. The turntable also stopped working about a month after purchasing.

The microwave will not shut off without leaving the door open. It also will not spin. Light doesn’t work when the door is shut.

Clearly an overall issue with this microwave. Same story as many others. When it first started happening, it seemed to reset itself after I shut off the breaker. Not anymore.

RUNS WITHOUT NUMBERS PRESSED

Just like every other review, our microwave of 5 years started making a noise as if it’s running even if no buttons have been pressed. I can’t have the door closed or it “runs.” It’s really frightening that this isn’t just a one-off…that every single review is saying the exact same problem.

Common problem for this model

this microwave is about 5 years old. Similar story to several others. When I open the door, the microwave stays on (at least the fan and the turntable are going). Seems dangerous and it seems like a definite pattern with the door sensor that Whirlpool should address. I will not buy this or any other Whirlpool appliance until they respond.

Quit working after 5 years

We have had this microwave for only 5 years and it just stopped working after emitting a chemical smell. After looking at other reviews, it seems this model only lasts for 5 years which is not worth the price tag.

Microwave not heating and still remains powered ON

we have bought Whirlpool Microwave UMC5225GZ with trim kit four years ago. it suddenly stopped heating and even after closing the door it remains powered ON and making hissing noice and not heating food. What is the solution and can you please help with replacement part or the unit.
