Run it’s own

We received a microwave through our home builder, but it has not been working reliably since we moved in. At first, the display light would go dark on and off, and now the issue has worsened. Recently, the microwave began making a loud humming sound and has stopped heating food altogether.
This has been very frustrating, as we expected a quality appliance. Please let us know what can be done to resolve this issue

Running on its own

This microwave was brand new built into our new construction home that we bought 5 years ago, and it just started running on its own when we have not pushed any buttons. Never seen a microwave in my 40+ years that did this. Went to check the product manual online and lo and behold finding many many reviews here of the very same issue….seems like a serious product flaw and of course warranty only covers one year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Safety hazard

Microwave started running on its own when door was shut. It would stop when door was opened but immediately turned back on once the door was shut. Tried unplugging it and plugging back in - microwave turned on by itself still. Seems this is not an isolated issue as there are many other reviews with the same issue. Thankfully we were home when this happened, but this is definitely a fire hazard. If this is a recurring issue, shouldn't there be a recall on this product?

Won't shut off

Same as everyone else, my Whirlpool microwave UMC5225GZ will not shut off unless the door is left open. I tried turning off at the circuit breaker several times, and the problem returns when I turn it back on. If there is a solution, please give it to us, rather than telling us how sorry you are.

Dangerous Arcing & Constant Breaker Trips — Avoid

I’m very disappointed with this microwave. After only a short period of normal use, it began arcing inside during operation—bright flashes and crackling noises that were both alarming and unsafe. Shortly after the arcing started, the unit began tripping my circuit breaker every time I tried to use it, even for a few seconds. I’ve owned several microwaves over the years and have never experienced an issue this serious. I checked the outlet, the cookware, and cleaned the interior thoroughly, but the problem persisted. It’s clear something is wrong with the internal components or design. For a household appliance, reliability and safety are absolutely essential, and this microwave failed on both fronts.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

warranty company replaced our old microwave and this new one failed and cannot be repaired in a few months....no confidence in this product.

Built in with the kit. Calibrated the power settings based on the fraction of the cycle time it is on. Energy output agrees with previous microwave. We use it several times a day using the cook-time and cook-power settings. Read the manual. I do not use it for the features. 30-second input by hitting start is quick and handy. Clock is intuitive to set.

Came with our new house. Lightbulb went out and there is no way to change it without Tearing the microwave down. The paperwork doesn’t even list a bLübeck size or how to! So when I finally got to the back of it, the ground wire looks toasted! It’s 2 years old! I’ve had microwaves for close to a decade and never had the light go out! AND we’ve also experienced the door error everyone e is mentioning! Beyond mad. I’ll have to replace it now with my own money.
