I bought this laptop less than a month ago and I’ve been trying to play cs go on it ever since and it gives me an fps of 30 whereas my older laptop gives me 60+ fps. I really don’t understand why a gaming laptop wouldn’t be configured to run a game smoothly. Kind of disappointed.

Great machine for a player like me that spends most of their time playing older games in HD. Fans are surprisingly quiet for the power this thing can pump out. Screen is a little duller than I'd like and I still can't figure out how the sound configuration works, but otherwise, the thing is a great purchase.
I bought this laptop in June, 2018 and I can assure you that all the features the description box outlines are correct. The computer is super fast (It takes about 5-10 seconds to turn on, type your password, and go onto the desktop ready to work). In addition, the graphics are like movie graphics. Whenever I watch something on Netlfix, I feel like I am in a movie theater. The texture of the keyboard is amazing. It's so smooth. I highly recommend it.
Its been only one month since i got the laptop and it freezes from time to time forcing me to hard restart it. When it works well its good but i'm unhappy about this set back.

For an entry level gaming laptop, the Legion Y520 offers great fantastic for your buck. Booting up from the SSD is blazing fast, gaming performance is great, the Lenovo Nerve Center that comes pre-installed is actually useful for cooling and quick recording of gameplay, and the overall design has just enough of a cool factor while still being understated enough to avoid looking like a 90s scifi movie prop. Also huge props to Lenovo for not stuffing the laptop with a ton of bloatware out of the box.
On the downside, the mousepad is more style over substance, and the super shallow keys means it's capable of basic navigation with effort and not much else. Not a huge issue if you use a third party mouse, but still a bit of a letdown. But my biggest complaint about the Legion, one which has almost made me question my purchase, is the keyboard layout. Specifically, the Page Up/Page Down/Home/End keys have been crammed into the arrow keys as alternate functions, rather than being independent keys or placed as NumLock toggles on the numpad. If you plan to do any kind of document editing or programming on the Legion, this design choice will soon make you want to tear you hair out. The function key being placed on the left side of the keyboard means common actions such as paging down or going to the end of the line are going to require two hands, and in some cases such as highlighting a line of text, it's going to require three simultaneous key presses (Shift+Fn+Right Arrow) to achieve. If you're coming from a compact laptop or desktop keyboard, that's going to require a lot of unlearning muscle memory and finger contortions. Also, the inclusion of the numpad squeezing the rest of the keys to the left means your hands are going to be spending a lot of time off center relative to the screen while typing, which I've noticed can worsen wrist strain over time.
In summary, impressive performance for the price, but the keyboard layout can make it feel like the computer is actively fighting you when you're not doing anything that's not strictly entertainment related.
I got my Y520 2 weeks ago and I enjoy its performance. THere is one hic: the cooling system is on very very often which is sometimes annoying when you are simply using office or reading PDF file...
We bought this for our son a month ago for gaming, and he loves it, but a key has already fallen off - maybe not sturdy enough for repetitive key usage. They should sell a shell to cover keys.
