I have had this grinder for 5.5 years and have really enjoyed using it. It looks fantastic in red and is easy to use. When it started making a bit of an odd noise I thought, "no problems, I shall get it serviced and it will be like new and I'll be able to once again enjoy my cup of espresso each day". Only to find out that KitchenAid don't supply spare parts. It's only just over 5 years old. I should still be able to get parts for this machine. I'm really annoyed. It's not cheap and it should last longer than this. And there should be ample supply of parts for it. Now it's just sitting on my bench waiting to be thrown out. I know that we are a throw away society but not of products that are marketed as premium and long lasting. Makes me think twice about purchasing anything else that KitchenAid produce. My wife might have to re-think her wanting a mixer from these guys...I mean it might look great, but how long will it actually last?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best one I’ve ever found. It grinds a consistent size time after time. Super heavy duty. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

I have been using this grinder now for about 11 years. The only issue was the small plastic retainer, (nozzle holder), between the grinder and the receiver bowl. I replaced it and have been grinding daily right along. I purchased a new set of burrs and a replacement bowl about 3-5 years ago but have yet to replace anything except the broken plastic bowl cap. Can't say enough good things about this grinder. Like many, if it broke today I'd order another right away without a thought. I sure hope they are building them just the same. The only thing giving me a bit of pause are the 4 rubber feet which seem to be loosing some of their resiliency, I have been attempting to come up with another design which would give more cushion but have not yet been able to come up with one. Maybe these have just worn out, but the grinder keeps on going. Anyway, as I say, there is none better on the market at any price outside of ridiculous. Best addition for a coffee lover you will ever make. And, once again, no one gave me or promised me any coercion for my report. I just feel so strongly I wanted to add an update to my previous review a year ago. Rooster403

No replacement parts?!?!

Not a big deal really, my Grind Jar fell into the floor the other day and broke. Its great that its made of glass because of the anti-static qualities compared to plastic. But when it breaks, the machine will be ugly on the bench and the function will also suffer when using another container to catch the coffee coming out ground. My machine is 6 years old and I've had no other problems with it, solid! Too bad that Kitchen Aid don't support their products for longer period of time. It's like Toyota would stop making parts for the MKII Prius when it went out of production. Seriously bad, will never buy Kitchen Aid products again!

Crazy loud

This is the 2nd burr grinder that purchased from Kitchenaid. I was, and am, completely happy with my 1st burr grinder purchase, but it is at my other house being used by my adult offspring. I purchased my 2nd one in late 2017 and it was crazy loud right out of the box. I thought that it might quiet down after a while, but it has not. I just took a decibel reading on it (July 2020), and it registered at 79. The machine operates fine, looks great. It just has an insanely loud high-pitch scream when operating. I will likely seek another brand of burr grinder when I decide that I have had enough of this screaming loud machine.

Love the grinder but hate the noise!

We bought this model after seeing how our friend's older version of this grinder work beautifully for grinding coffee. However, when we first used it for the first time, we were shocked at how much noise it makes. Almost need ear plugs while running it. With the burr grinder removed the motor still makes that racket so it's the motor making the whining noise, not the grinder .
The other problem we've had with it is the burr grinders getting jammed and stopping. Twice in the past two months, we've had to disassemble the grinder and romove all the ground coffee from around the burrs.

Tank grinder

This is the tank of grinders & a fantastic one at that. I done a ton of research for a grinder that would actually do as it says. This grinder is heavy and built like the good stuff of the far past that is still working today. The consistency of the grounds are spot on in every mode I've tried this far. I read reviews of static, with the gas bowl that this comes with I've yet to experience that. I don't have one negative comment about this beast. Simply exceeded my expectations at a great price. Thankyou kitchenaid!

12+ years and still going strong!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We recently bought one of these as a gift for my daughter, but other than a quick "smoke" test, she hasn't used it, so this is a review of mine, which I've owned for more than 12 years.
I bought this model when it part of KitchenAid's ProLine. It replaced a Braun burr grinder. The Braun had a small motor that had to run at high speed in order to have enough power to grind. It popped the beans around like a popcorn maker.
I picked the KitchenAid for several reasons:
1) It's made primarily of metal and glass (including the receptacle for the grounds), very little plastic.
2) It's got a nice big motor, with enough torque to grind at low speeds.
3) It uses an auger to feed the beans to the burrs. In addition to not having the beans bounce around like they're in a pinball machine, it allows me to add EXACTLY the amount of coffee I need for a pot/partial pot/cup, and it will positively feed all of the beans to the burrs without having to wait for the last couple of "jumping beans" (like in the Braun) to finally drop in and get caught in the burrs. This in turn let's me change coffee from one pot to the next without having residual beans from the previous batch still in the grinder.
4) It looks cool, in a big industrial way (it IS big). It reminds me of those big Hobart mixers you find in commercial bakeries.
I have to admit, I don't take care of it nearly as well as I should. I haven't cleaned it in a while. And yet it has never given me any trouble whatsoever. It grinds very consistently, since it is not using speed to pulverize the beans. There's really not much else to say. It works well and it works every time with no fuss. It works so well I take it for granted, which is the highest compliment I can pay it.
The only caveat I can offer is that it doesn't do what I would call an espresso grind. I don't make espresso, so this is conjecture on my part, but I'm guessing if you make espresso, you'll want a different grinder.
