I bought this after much research of conical burr grinders, which were reviewed on various blogs as either inexpensive junk or over-priced, unreliable and fragile. This flat-burr (just like the grocery store grinders) grinder seems to be built for the long haul and is built with user-maintenance in mind. I have always used a hand burr grinder for years, so I am thankful to be able to grind my beans in seconds without effort! Also, I love the grind quality and ease of adjustment for said grind quality.

We have had this for4 or 5 years. It is well built and grinds very consistently. If the Beans are extremely oily you may have to tap the side of the bean bowl to keep the beans from sticking together and not dropping down to the grinding burrs, but that doesn't rise to the level of an irritant! We love this machine and have recommended it to many of our friends.
We have had our new burr grinder for several weeks and are very happy with it. There is very little static cling to the glass carafe (unlike the plastic one that other brands use) and the grind is even and just right for the drip coffee we make. It allows a number of settings for different types of coffee preparation and fits under my cabinets. We have had our KitchenAid mixer for 20 years and it is still going strong - anticipating the coffee grinder will perform equally well!!!

I purchased this grinder three months ago. At first I was not happy about it. It did not work as well as I thought it should. Then it stopped working. I called KitchenAid and they sent me a brand new one to replace it. Now I am extremely happy. It works exactly as it should. It is very easy to clean and grinds the coffee exactly the way I like it. I have had many grinders before finding this one and they were all lacking in one way or another most being extremely hard to clean or overheating all the time. I love my KitchenAid grinder!

Espresso fine grind is not consistent

We bought this grinder when using a drip coffee maker but then moved to an espresso machine the grinder has to be tightened all the time to produce a fine grind. And even with that the grind is not consistent.
Before buying the KitchenAid, I used a hand-crank coffee mill, which worked great. In comparison, the KitchenAid is much easier to use and results in no carpal tunnel, so that's a good thing. It quickly produces a consistent, even grind and is not too noisy. The only issue I have with it is that the grounds cup moves as the machine vibrates and grounds fall outside the cup, on to the table and grinder base - the cup should be held more securely.
