[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought KA grinder to replace a Baratza which no longer has replacement burrs available. KA has better bean feed, wider range of grind, and larger burr for faster grinding. The only two recommendations I have for KA is to put a handle on the catch jar and/ make it metal to discharge static build up (adherence of grounds to jar wall) and to avoid dropping & breaking.

Going strong after 18 years, static prevention.

I bought the grinder 20 years ago, had some issues with bean bridging (wouldn't feed up top) with the original design so KitchenAid replaced it under warranty. I've used my grinder almost daily for 18 years. I had some issues with static making fine grounds difficult to fall cleanly into the receiver bowl. I now use an eye dropper with water (reverse osmosis) and drop 2 drops into the feed throat of the grinder before I put the beans in and an additional 1 to 2 drops depending on amount of beans I'm grinding. 18-20 grams of beans = 3 drops, 24-30 grams = 4 drops. I weigh out the beans before each grind so I don't keep beans in the hopper, allowing me to do the water drop thing. This has eliminated all static problems for me over the years (probably been doing this 10 years now). The grinder is powerful and grinds pretty uniformly, especially with finer grinds. Even though my unit was a redesign from the original, it still has some issues with the beans not feeding completely into the throat without me grabbing the grinder by the sides and shaking it while grinding! The unit has a flat burr design for whatever that's worth. I'm going to be critical and taking one star off for the fact that I have to shake the unit to get all beans to feed. KitchenAid customer support was extremely helpful and customer oriented when I had to deal with the original unit 18 years ago. I hope they are as great now!

Plastic gears and incapable of espresso grind

Plastic gears stripped out 3 months after warranty ended. Company isn’t stepping up. Waste of money. Quite incapable of grinding fine for espresso anyway, but okay for drip coffee.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is yet another amazing kitchenaid appliance. It’s sleek, powerful, performs fantastically and feels solid and sturdy. I would give this 5 stars except that the jar the grind go into either needs to be a heavier glass or needs a handle. It’s a little fragile feeling and I’m worried it may shatter easily which is not what I’m not used to feeling with kitchenaid products. Love it despite this. Boyfriend loves it. It’s a game changer for morning coffee.

Classic and Simple

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cheap blade grinder broke and I wanted to replace it with a burr grinder but didn’t want all electronic gadgets and programming, etc...etc...This appears to be simple on and off and it grinds perfectly whatever you put in it. I hope it lasts for many years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use burr grinders for their consistency of grind. This is the best of three I have had. It is as close you can get for a home grinder as the more professional versions. Two minor thoughts is the glass catch jar is slightly cumbersome to extract the coffee, so I use a measuring cup instead. And, it still has a chute for the coffee to exit the grinder, I had hoped it would drop straight through. Other than those two issues, it is quiet, consistent, easy to clean. I have drank coffee since the 5th grade, so I like the beverage.
