Great Espresso Maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchase this new unit about a month ago to replace my OLD KitchenAid Pro Line Series Espresso Maker. I also have always use my excellent Pro Line Grinder to process the espresso grounds I order from Buon Giorno Roastery here in Texas.
Both my wife and I, have always loved and always will, enjoy our daily espresso.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Falls short in delivering quality espresso shots.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the KES2102CA Espresso Machine on Oct 2nd. I have had it for a couple of weeks now and the experience has been less than satisfactory. The reason for purchasing the item were: (1) Design, (2) KitchenAid Brand, (3) Dual Boilers, (4) Expectations of great espresso.
The last item, (4) Expectations of Great Espresso, have fallen flat. Still have not been able to produce a quality espresso shot.
I have changed beans, different grinds, tamping pressures, bottled water, etc. The best I can get is a small film at the end of a 25 second pull.
A Nespresso Pod machines produce a better creme than this machine.
While this is an elegant machine, it falls short in delivering quality espresso shots.
It has dual boilers, but unable to control the temperature. The espresso boiler's needle indicates that it has just barely reached "ready" temperature.
The coffee flows quickly, even with a fine grind from a burr grinder, 20b tamp pressure.
It is just not living up to the KitchenAid name or videos.
Any suggestions before it is packed up and returned?

Horrible product
on June 26, 2020

Purchased last year for Christmas and it lasted 1year and 1 mos. I was told that it was older than that and wouldn’t be covered under warranty. The first one I had many years ago lasted and was great, clearly they have changed something because I have another one in a different location and that one is too showing signs of failing in the steam pump after only 3 months.

lack of temperature control ruins an otherwise solid espress

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although this espresso maker has a lot going for it, it doesn't deserve the "Pro Line" moniker without temperature control.
My first impressions of the espresso maker were quite positive. Each component - from the tamp to the machine itself - felt substantial and well-made. They even included little extras like a brush for cleaning up grounds and a railing around the top of the machine so that items placed there (they recommend putting cups there for warming) do not easily fall. The only thing that seemed out of character with the high-quality build was the water reservoir, which didn't really latch into place in any way. I think this was probably an intentional design decision to make refills easier, but it seemed a little strange that there wasn't even a ridge to make it feel securely engaged. This, however, was a minor complaint in what otherwise seemed to be a very solid machine.
I read through every step of the instructions before I attempted to make my first espresso. Then I referenced them again as I walked through the process. When the first attempt turned from rich brown to watery after just a few seconds, I assumed that I just needed more practice. So, I tried again and again and again for over an hour. I got a few pulls that were serviceable enough to make a mediocre latte - with the milk to espresso ratio masking the subpar espresso - but not one attempt resulted in anything close to a drinkable espresso. I read through the troubleshooting tips. When nothing in the manual seemed to work, I started looking online. I adjusted my grind. I adjusted my tamping technique. The one critical factor I could not adjust (and my main complaint about this machine) was the temperature. Although the manual and the online resources all talk about the importance of the right temperature, this espresso maker has no mechanism for controlling or even measuring the temperature of the water.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
