What happened to Defenders screen protector?

So the Otterbox Defender series was one of the few that had a good built in screen protector.It seems now you have to order some kind of extra screen protector.

We're so sorry for the confusion. The Defender Series case for the iPhone SE (2nd gen)/8/7 comes with a built-in screen protector. We decided to forego it in our later models to accommodate Apple's new curved screen technology.

I bought the light blue and grey case about a month ago because I had the exact same one on my old phone, and they're the same size. It was the same size and it had the built-in screen protector, but it didn't have the little window on the back. I wouldn't care about that sort of thing but I like to put a little picture there that sort of customizes it, and this one didn't have it. I'm not sure how to get one with the window

After exhaustive design testing, our engineers determined that the best way to interact with the advanced screen of your display was without the addition of a built-in screen protector. That being said, our tests have shown that this case provides the same level of drop protection as past Defender Series cases. As for the vanity window on the back, that case is designed to fit the iPhone 7, 8, and SE 2nd Gen, and they have the apple logo in different locations, so we chose to remove the vanity window to avoid any alignment issues.

I work around a lot of dust and it finds its way behind the screen protector. Every two days i have to take the defender apart to wipe the screen and blow out the inside of the case.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I returned it. I’ve had several defenders over the years and I loved them. Thought I was buying another one. Wrong! The ones now are skinnier and more plastic. And too little for my hand to hold. I liked the others that were more rubber and were more for it ice to hold on to. All the rest are skinnier why would you make this one too. Some of us want the difference. So I guess I won’t ever be buying an Otter again.

Ran over my phone with a pallet of yams. No damage

I bought this around five years ago when I first got my iPhone 8, and honestly I didn’t like it. Bulky, ugly, stretched the pockets on my jeans…etc. Then one day at work my phone fell out of my apron pocket and I ran over the darn thing with a pallet of yams well over 1,000lbs. Not a scratch on it! The bottom left corner cracked and lost some pieces, and the rubber there was torn, but the phone? Completely unharmed. I now love this hideous thing and recommend it to anyone who also tends to be clumsy at work or around heavy machinery. Now if only they’d start selling steel-toed boots, because my foot some years back was not so lucky in coming out unscathed…
