This is my second purchase of Otter Box. My previous Otter Box was on a iPhone 5c, which got bounced off my tile floors at home several times and dropped out of my car while opening the car door. Never hard problems with this product. Yea!!
Order this one because the previous belt clip broke. The new one broke after only a few days. The clip snapped off the back of the holster when taking off belt.

I have been using Otterbox defender cases for a number of years and they never disappoint! When I buy a new phone, I buy a defender case. My phones have never been damaged (I drop everything all of the time) and even after 3+ years in some instances, the phones still look brand new. Worth every penny, every time.
I’ve had my Otterbox for several weeks and very glad. I haven’t dropped it yet, but I always walk around confidently know that if I did, my phone would be safe inside.
Though I can’t slip it in and out of my pockets, I’ll let that go to be able to keep my phone secured.
The Defender is my “go to” anytime a new iPhone because it is sturdy and very grippable. Would have given five stars except that when I power down the phone it takes a real struggle to power it back on. I have to push the button super hard with both thumbs and all my strength which concerns me because I am getting older and at some point won’t have the strength to power the phone on and off with this case that I love so much!
I bought the earlier model of the Defender for my 1st iPhone 5s in 2014. I loved it—it completely. protected my phone completely from anything I doled out. The rubbery feel of the shell was easy to grip, had buttons that were easy to press, and lasted until Oct. 2020 when I bought a new iPhone SE and needed a new case. This new Defender is not the same. I'm very disappointed. The outer shell is much harder, which makes it very difficult to operate the volume controls, put the phone to sleep, and access the lightning cable and earbuds insertion. Plus, the screen cover doesn't sit well against the iPhone screen, which makes typing harder and text corrections frustrating. I ended up returning the case.

Hi there!
We're sorry to hear that you ended up returning your Defender Series case! IT's certainly odd to hear that you're having trouble with the buttons and screen sensitivity with your case! Keep in mind, additional screen protectors adhered to the screen of your phone can impact sensitivity when paired with this Defender Series case. That being said, we still want to get you a replacement case to help with the issues you're experiencing with your buttons. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Service Team here: https://www.otterbox.com/en-us/contact-us
This is the third or fourth Defender case I've owned. The second one for this phone. The case offers excellent protection for my iPhone. A couple of things that could be improved, however: 1. the screen. Like all plastics, it gets scratched and marred over time. It is not designed to be replaced. Removing it is time-consuming, you also have to clean the adhesive from the inside of the case, and unless you find something to replace it, the phone does not fit as snugly in the case. 2. The outer case. It stretches out over time. Not radically, but after 2 or so years of use, the sides and corners can slip off of the inner case regularly. 3. The outlet flaps. I don't know any solution to this one. On my last case, I simply cut and removed the flap to the charger in order to make the charger more accessible.

moisture under screen protector

This has happened with every otterbox case I've ever owned. The tiniest bit of moisture -- a single raindrop, or even just being in a sweaty pocket -- will get under the screen and make it almost impossible to use until you're back in a dry environment and you can remove the phone from the case and wipe it down thoroughly.
I'm not worried about the phone itself because it is pretty water resistant and I don't feel the need to buy a waterproof case, but it's unreal how the tiniest little water droplet can prevent me from being able to navigate and control the screen. Finally biting the bullet and buying a different case.

Hi there!
We're sorry to hear about your frustration with your Defender Series case! While our cases are designed to be tough, none of them are built with water protection in mind. We'll be sure to get your feedback passed up the ladder to our design team. We're bummed that you're choosing to go with a different case, but we hope you end up choosing another OtterBox! If you're looking for something without a built-in screen protector, we'd suggest checking out our Commuter Series case here: https://www.otterbox.com/en-us/iphone-8-iphone-7/commuter-series-case/77-56650.html#start=1
