Excellent product Joule. It changed the way we cook at home. Chefsteps recipes are amazing and even if the ingredients are not exactly the same the directions provided will certainly improve the results of regular cooking.

I love Joule, but I don't love the app that controls it. I really wish that controlling Joule and the content portion of the app were two separate apps.

Darn Near Great

As someone new to sous vide cooking I will begin by saying my Joule is working like a dream so far. The video demonstrations are very helpful. My only quibbles lie in the app and website which are very nice; however navigating through them is not always intuitive - at least not to me. An example would be a recipe found and saved on the website have to be ferreted out in the app. If they mirrored each other working between the two would be a LOT easier. Otherwise I'd say job well done. I intend to get a second unit at some point.

My wife gave me my Joule for Christmas and I LOVE it. There is no better way to cook frozen veggies, they come out full of flavor and not water logged. Eggs, hard boiled or poached, are easy and come out perfectly every time. Steaks are excellent when started Sous Vide and seared on the barbecue. A few days after Christmas, I re-heated some medium rare prime rib. It was just as good and full of flavor as it was on Christmas Day. Since then I have used it to re-heat other things with excellent results. ChefStep's customer support cannot be beat. A quick email to them gets a response, most times, within minutes or early the next business day. The helped me trouble shoot my first unit, which was defective. No matter what the question, via email or phone call, I have always gotten a cheerful and correct answer.

I have used with three different phones and often have connectivity issues. When I purchased I read there would be a way to program manual use, so the button would recall previous temps, but it's never turned on by pressing button. Also, I wish the timer would start automatically as I often put the food in while water is heating up since it happens quickly.
