Kitchenaid's siphon brewer produces faultlessly clean tasting, richly flavored coffee every time. The instructions seemed complex at first, but are not much more difficult to execute than those for an electric drip that requires frequent vinegar cleaning to achieve a far less tasty brew. Watching the pot work it's magic is a welcome morning show.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Adding this coffee maker to our collection now brings us to 6 different coffee makers. By far - this brewer makes the best tasting coffee we have. It is a beautiful product which creates rich, smooth coffee.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is cleanability. it is not the easiest product in the world to clean.

Not only is this machine a beauty to look at, it makes a really great cup of coffee. I started buying premium roasts and even hand grinding the beans, and measuring out the exact amount of coffee to make the perfect brew!
I feel like a real Barista! My friends and family really get a kick out of the whole process.
Of course you really do not have to anything complicated to use the brewer. I also used it with already ground and the included measurer to make a fine pot as well, but its more fun going through the whole process.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It's okay.. If your looking to replace bodum santos Brewer, this will not. Doesn't boil the coffee long enough on top to extract flavor. It makes a fair cup of coffee. The idea was good, but not there yet. I'm disappointed. If your not pickey on flavor/hot coffee this is your Brewer. I'll keep waiting for a good electric vaccum Brewer
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing machine. NOT A SIPHON!!!!

They did a marvelous job with this VACUUM BREWER!!! Using the cloth filters is a must. I get a better product when I mix the coffee with the water as it fills the upper chamber. The agitation provided by the bubbling action is not sufficient and the coffee seems under extracted. Tweak the grind and coffee amounts to accommodate your tastes. The machine is convenient to use. I love it!
Personal Rant: There is no siphon action used in the brewing process. it is physically impossible. This process is called vacuum brewing. It is terribly irksome to me that they call this a siphon.

Enjoying it every morning

I bought this brewer after seeing a good review of it in Consumer Report Magazine. Though pricier than I would normally spend, I thought "what the heck, it's going to make a fun Christmas gift to open and watch brew"! My family thinks I lost my mind but I love it and don't mind the extra clean up. I agree with others that there is no warming unit is disappointing but we usually drink it fast enough to make it not a big deal or, heaven forbid, we have to nuc the mug in the microwave for 15 seconds! Tips using it, when turning the filter to lock in place you will hear a click knowing it's truly locked in place. Also I find medium ground as the manual suggest takes too much coffee to get a nice rich flavor. I now buy whole bean and have it ground to fine espresso and works much better with less coffee. And of course being a Kitchen Aid product, the craftsman quality is very apparent!

This makes the best coffee. The only thing that is a problem is that if you don't use the cloth filter, the grounds go back into your brewed coffee. Kitchen Aid provides 3 cloth filters. I tried to purchase more. The representatives from Kitchen Aid said that this option is not available. I will have to refrain from using this coffee maker when my cloth filters are no longer keeping my grounds out. I have spoken with Kitchen Aid representatives and they do not sell this item separately. This has been a disappointment.
