cools quickly, effectively and is very quiet

didnt quite cut it

Uh oh, CherylH! I hate to hear that your A/C wasn't able to keep you cool enough. You would need a 12,000 BTU A/C to sufficiently cool a 550 sq. ft space. This appliance is only sufficient for up to 250 sq. ft. ~ Brandi

Perfect Size

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this in April for summer in Texas. I have an older home with low, big windows. This made it impossible to find an AC that would fit properly without being overbearing or noisy. This has been great, slim fitting and quiet enough to see TV. Sad its discontinued.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit may be a little pricier than others, but well worth it: it's low profile, quite, and works great! We set it in automatic mode with the thermotat at the desired temp and it does the job all on its own.

Mixed bag: cools well but some issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this unit since June. I installed it in master bedroom in Florida for some extra cooling at night. It handles that well. Its a bit noisy, but we use a white noise machine so that isn't an issue. My big problems are rust on the exterior (I have it in a window that is protected by a porch so it is shaded and protected from the weather) and kind of a free flow of condensate off of the exterior. The unit doesn't seem to have a single point where condensate drains. This has resulted in condensate running down my windowsill, my exterior wall and onto my porch. It really needs a drain. If it had that I could divert the condensate into drain hose.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hey Tangential, thank you for your review. I am glad that your air conditioner is helping keep your bedroom cool. I understand that you are experiencing some condensation on the rear of the unit. I would recommend checking to ensure that your unit is installed per Installation Instructions. You may also benefit from installing a dehumidifier in high humidity environments to reduce excess moisture and in return, help reduce the overall stress your unit is under. Hope this helps!

good for a long time.

My unit had been installed for two years. I weatherize and maintain well, but lately it has been leaking huge amounts of water into my apartment. Lost an entire shelf of irreplaceable items. Trying to determine if the couch will mildew or dry out.
otherwise - before the leak and ruined items it was great.

In research, When the unit is blowing out cold air into warmer air with a lot of humidity, sweating may occur on the front of the unit. Ensure that the seals around the unit are tight and that air is not entering into the room from the outside. Also, if high humidity is in the room, slowly decrease the temperature setting over time so the unit is not overwhelmed while it is removing the humidity.
