Acceptable shave, but many irritating features

This is my 5th Philips. Up till now each has been an upgrade. I am not sure that it was this time. My last razor was the Philips that tugged on the hair and then cut it. The new razor does not cut as close (if memory serves), but on the plus side I don't get ingrown hairs from the new razor. The new razor follows the contours of my face well and with enough time and different speed settings achieves an acceptable shave.
However Philips appears to have designed the 9000 for the self cleaning feature. I am not prepared to go to the expense of cartridges for the cleaner or the environmental waste. The cleaner is also too bulky for travel. Manual cleaning is not too difficult but the opening of the head is a little finicky. In addition the space for hair collection in the razor head is quite small so it must be cleaned frequently. The 9000 also does not come with a cleaner brush.
The fact the the edge trimmer is completely separate is another minus- it can easily be misplaced and there is not even a pouch for it in the travelling case.
There are symbols on the control panel that are unexplained. For instance at the bottom there is a symbol of the head with directional arrows and an exclamation mark. What is Philips trying to tell me? Above the speed setting on the right is an Undo arrow, meaning what?
Finally, I guess for safety's sake the razor cannot be used when connected to the charger. That means that when the batteries die, they either have to be replaced, or you will need a new razor.

Excellent shaver. I preferred the old flip up trimmer. Cleaning solution just 5 times too.expensive. You need to provide cheaper bulk cleaner lubricator. Cuts well. Cleans up easy

I am very happy with the shaving experience overall. I shave every day, I have a strong beard, and I do not have sensitive skin.
I empty and rinse the head under the faucet after each shave, but I cannot tell is the blade housing is clean or not without removing the parts on top of the blade. This is a minor annoyance. I have only used the cleaning cycle once and cannot comment on its effectiveness. Still very happy with the shave, which is criteria #1.

lacking travel charger
