I balked at first of purchasing a premium shaver because of price, and to be honest I was ok using hand shavers. Needed a good shaver that had a trimmer as well. Took a chance when I found a decent sale.
All I can say is that it works as advertised. No complaints and I can't see myself going back to hand shavers. Easy to use and clean.

I've been a Norelco/Philips shaver user for 55 years. My previous shaver, I believe Model 8894, lasted almost 20 years and would still be working today had it not fallen from a shelf onto a tile floor and a small piece of the shaver head cracked off. Its battery was rated at 100 min. of shave time per charge and in actuality always got at least 130 min.; my last charge, after nearly 20 years, was 136 min. What a phenomenal battery. The present shaver is rated at 50 min. and I don't even think it gets that. So much for progress in battery technology.
Compared to my previous shaver, this one feels like a toy. The head is plastic, as opposed to metal, and feels flimsy. Once in awhile the blades start to "chatter" and I have to pull the head off and replace it tightly to get the sound to stop. I believe it will eventually fail. And it would be very nice if the head flipped for manual rinsing of the blades, just like on my previous model (and the ones before it), as that would save the wear and tear associated with pulling off the cap of the shaver head each time the blades are rinsed. I don't expect this shaver to come even close to the longevity of its predecessor.
The travel case is small, which is good, but it has no room in it for the charging cord, which the case for the previous shaver had.
The trimmer is not attached to the shaver, as it generally is, which makes it a nuisance to use and will certainly contribute to wear and tear on the shaver head due to having to pull the head off every time I want to attach the trimmer.
The cleaning module is HUGE and I have to keep it in a closet when not using it, since I have no room for it in my bathroom. It also seems to be impossible to clean the shaver without also charging the battery, and since this means the battery will be charged more often than it needs to be, it will reach its maximum number of charges sooner than it should, causing premature failure. My cleaning module failed after about 2 1/2 years. I pointed out to Philips that when I purchased the shaver/charger the box came in said "made in the Netherlands"; apparently only the shaver is made there, as after the charger failed I noticed on the underside that it is made in China. I probably would not have bought the product had I known this; however, to Philips's credit, because I was unhappy about this, they agreed to send me a whole new charger for free, even though the warranty is over. So while I am not thrilled about the product, I am very happy with customer service. But still not happy about the Chinese-made charger.
Oh, yes, it does shave. Not quite as close as my previous shaver did, even though Philips makes much of its blade technology. And since the primary purpose of the product is to shave and it does this at least competently, I did give the unit 3 stars overall despite all the shortcomings. But I certainly expected better after the company had almost 20 years in which to improve the product.
Pros: it shaves., customer service is very responsive
Cons: flimsy feel and construction, poor battery life, travel case not large enough to hold charging cord, inconvenient poorly-designed trimmer, poorly-made cleaning module made in china.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
