Due to my sensetive skin, dry shavers never worked for me; I would what's get rashes and bumps. The 9700 changed that for me!
I've been using it pretty much daily for about 2 months now and I'm impressed with the close shave I get every time.
For my sensetive skin, it works better wet (using shaving gel), but I've used it dry a lot and have been very happy.
Cleaning it is easy and I like the included cleaning system, although I've only used it a couple of times. Normally I just rise out and leave it to dry.
One major flaw in this razor. After the warranty is up after two years you get no factory support. They closed all of their service centers. I think this was a terrible move on their part.
I like the battery life and cleaning station/charger. I had a refurbished Norelco 8894 XL ‘James Bond’ series shaver for 15 years prior to this one, which has an integrated sideburn trimming attachment but was bulkier. Loved that razor to death but it eventually died. This new razor fits my hand better but requires an attachment for sideburn trimming. I can see why that was done, but it is another thing to carry. The razor refresh cleaning station seems to work okay...i use it about every week or two. The replacement solution cartridges are reasonably priced. If they cost more i would avoid buying them, but that is not the case. I’ve had the razor for only 3 or 4 months. Long enough to know that the shave is amazing. I recommend this shaver. Let’s see if it will last as long as the 8894XL.
I have two Norelco shavers but this one does all of my trimming and shaving needs. I have been a customer for over 40 years and look foward to many more.
