Great Features but one problem

I've had Norelco shavers all my life, but this shaver I've had nothing but problems. The shaver has a lot of good features but one very bad one for me. While shaving the entire cutting head pops off and drops to the sink,floor anywhere but where it should stay. On the average 2-6 times per shave. If I would have known about this problem I would have purchased another brand of shaver, my old Norelco just needed new blades but thought it was time for an upgrade,boy am I sorry.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this razor to replace an older model. This one, despite claims, does not shave as close as the older model. In additon, the battery does not last as long and does not come with a charging stand. This razor cost much more than my previous one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great new design both shaver and SmartClean System

After using my 1280X with JetClean Tank the past few years I was happy to see the new 9000 series with the redesigned cleaning system hit the market. The shaver itself is super smooth, quiet, and easy to clean. The S9311 is lighter than the 1280X but the quality feel is still there. Being able to change speeds is a nice added feature. I also really like the SmartClean unit itself...you simply pop in, pull out and throw out the cleaning tank cartridge when it's time. No more needing to fill, clean and refill the reservoir as with the old design. I'm very pleased my S9311 and if it's like any of my other Philips Norelco shavers it should be trouble free shaving for years to come.
Pros: smooth quiet clean shave, easy to remove shaving head, great new cleaning tank design

Cleaning System Failed, replacement offered without dryer

I've been using Norelco products my entire adult life. I just upgraded to the 9500 with the cleaning/drying base. The unit shaved great and worked well for a couple days. I ran the cleaning cycle daily without trouble. Then I noticed that when placing the shaver into the base and pushing the clean button, the orange drying light came on without cleaning the shaver.
I phoned Norelco/Phillips and talked with Chlouie. She was somewhat helpful. However, when she said that they would be happy to send out a replacement base without the drying feature, I returned the product to Bed, Bath & Beyond. I paid for that feature to work and would not settle for less.
By the way the conversation went, the problem appeared to be a "known" problem. That's why no replacement was available with the cleaning/drying feature.
The shaver had less than ten days on it before it failed. I am very disappointed.
Pros: shaved well
Cons: cleaning/drying base failed after ten uses.

I have been using the Philiips Norelco Shaver 9300 for over 3 week since I purchased it. It has provided me with a clean close shave each time I use it. The SmartClean System works better than I expected. I would recommend this shaver.

I have used Norelco rotary shavers exclusively since the 60s, but this razor is a huge disapointment. It delivers the smooth comfy shave I have grown to love over the decades, but the squealing noise is infuriating and makes me worry that it is a problem that could result in it failing completely. This is really strange.
Cons: expensive (like all the top line norelcos), irritating chronic squealing noise.

Best Razor Money Can Buy

This is my 3rd Norelco in 30 years. At a time when companies are not making their products as well in the past. I am pleasantly surprised that Norelco has kept true to its commitment of delivering the absolute best razor on the market. I have always had a Norelco. I consider Norelco the supreme razor. The Norelco no matter how much I use it never causes any irritation. My brother used my Norelco and agreed that the Norelco gives a smooth, clean shave and is definitely a great razor
Pros: gives smooth clean shave, quiet, battery charge last, easy to clean
Cons: unit is only cordless, unit does not appear to have replaceable battery, carry case unable to carry both shaver and trimmer, motor speed buttons are too small
