First time I have not returned an electric shaver in 30 years

This is the first time I have not returned a shaver during the trial period. I have tried numerous shavers all claiming to be wet and dry and will shave close as a blade. I have sensitive skin especially around neck and every shaver I have tried has inflamed my neck and left my skin with a feeling still like rough sandpaper. When I saw this written up in GQ as the Bentley of shavers thought I would try an electric again. Undid box slowly as fully expected to take it back in morning. Tried it on dry shave on slow speed and got the shock of my life when my skin felt as smooth as my top of the range blades. Needless to say first time in 30 years the box is in bin. It ain't going back this time
love the shave and the automatic cleaning is amazing

9000 rules the shaves, and no looking back

After many years enjoying the best from my previous Norelco top model, its demise had me checking out these new fangled models. Got the 9700 with cleaning dock, not disappointed in the least. I was concerned about its battery charge lasting less than the 2-hour-plus I was used to with my previous model. Thankfully this 9700's charge is timing out fine. I rinse the blades in the faucet after each use, but by the time the charge drops to 10%, it is due a full cleaning cycle on its dock. And it gets a full charge at the same time. I simply dock it, lock it, and start the cycle. Gets cleaned and charged while I sleep, automatically finishes, and cycles off. I like the 3 speed adjustment strategy better than my previous shaver's closeness adjustment. Hoping for a second multi-decade Norelco to 'shave me whiskers!
Pros: shaver +head and blades are easily on/off for clea, travels safely easy to lock off/on., sturdy grip confident to handle and glide, seriously bottom line: great shave!
Doesn't shave as well as mt old Norelco. If I coild retuen it I would,
Cons: bad shave compared to my old norelco. would return
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Heads dull in less than a month. Tried it wet, with various soaps and shave creams. Dry and with a pre-electric lotion. It pulls and irritates the skin. My wore out HQ 6705 Cool Skin works way better. Can't get replacement heads for it or would still be using it. This 9311 obviously was not field tested before putting on the market. Philips needs to make replacement heads for it that work.
Shaver works well, I am having a problem getting it to charge ! I use the information on the website to reset shaver,but it doesn’t work all time need it repaired!☹️
I would recommend this to a friend!

Routinely misses hairs.

This shaver routinely does not cut individual hairs of my beard. It will miss a given hair several days in a row. Once I recognize that it's missed a hair, deliberately trying to get that hair cut is almost a waste of time, as it will not cut a longer hair on the first or second pass. It typically needs 3 or 4 passes to get the job done. Forget getting a close shave if you haven't shaved for the weekend. It either takes 20 minutes of buzzing around your face or several days of shaving to get all the longer hairs cut. My 12 year old dull blade other brand electric did a better job in that regard. Once you get everything trimmed down, it's no better or smoother a shave than what a significantly less expensive shaver will give you. It doesn't matter if you've just put on new cutters or are using an older set, it's the same barely adequate shave. While it is very lightweight, to the point of almost feeling cheap lightweight, it is comfortable to hold. The first power unit failed within a week and it took several different calls and almost 3 weeks before I had a replacement. I've used it 7 months now, long past the 90 day satisfaction guarantee, previously thinking "It's got to get better than this!". If you're new to one of these and you're not immediately getting a great shave, send it back, as it's not going to get better. Given the cost, I was sure hoping it would be a lot better than it is.
Pros: comfortable to hold
Cons: doesn't cut very well, expensive for the cut you get, it's so lightweight but how long will it last?

Have you perhaps already tried to alternate between wet/dry shaves? Sometimes, this tends to help. Our newest line of shavers also needs to be used differently than before in order to have the best result. For our shavers, it's important to make circular movements. Did you make sure to do this? replacement heads??????

Thinking about getting a 9000 series? Good luck finding replacement heads. None of the stores you go to will carry them. Not even the one you buy the shaver from ( even if you buy the top of the line s9721 with the smart clean system like I did) Don't believe me? Go to any store you think SHOULD HAVE THEM and look for SH90 Phillips Norelco Series 9000 Replacement Unit or Heads. If you find some you better buy all of them because by now I'm starting to believe they don't even make them any more. The website is always "Out of Stock".
As for the shave itself. Better than I expected. Took a few weeks for my skin to get use to how close the shave was. Leaves skin smooth. I haven't gone more than 3 total days in a row without shaving since I've been using it. Works the best once you figure out how your skin reacts to the closeness of the shave and how often you can shave.
Smart clean system stopped working about 1 year after purchase. Right around the time recommended to replace the shaver heads.
Would make a great gift until they find out about a year later replacement heads are extinct for this shaver!
