Norelco user for over 40 yrs!

Replaced my 1280 with the 9700 after speaking with a Norelco customer service rep who said it's the best they have ever made & shaves your head baby smooth. Have used it now for 4 months & have to say I don't find it much different from the 1280 with a new shaving head. Not impressed yet considering the price. Still like Norelco as other shavers I've tried don't cut my whiskers as well! Also liked the trimmer on the razor as opposed to a separate attachment.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not nearly as good as the 8240XL that I have gone back to.

This automatic cleaner/bath system failed after a few months. (Phillps replaced it cheerfully.) It never did give a close fast shave like the Norelco 8240XL that I used before. After trying for two years, I have given up on the 9000 series. I used my 8240 daily, and occasionally use the 9000 to try to get some more use from it. I am completely satisfied with my 8240. I expect to continue using it forever. There are cutter head and other replacement parts available. Norelco/Phillips makes other shavers similar to the 8240. I am sure they are comparable. At around $70 they are surely a better the 9000's.
Pros: customer service was good when asked for.
Cons: doesn't cut as close as the older shaver, expensive compared to the simple but better shaver, have to change the head to trim. not convenient.

This is the most user friendly Norelco shaver I have used. I have had two others. The shape has always been easy to hold and with the axial head mount, this is much quicker and easier to use. It is still an electric shaver though and not as close as a blade shave.
I have three issues:
1) there is no snap-on shaver head cover to protect the heads.
2) The shaver and the charger will not both fit in the case together.
3) the on- off button is located so that it is too easy to touch while shaving. I turn the shaver off several time every use.

The razor is good but the SmartClean system is garbage

The razor gives a close shave and works great. The SmartClean system has not worked correctly from day one. I've tried it 3 times and it only worked the proper way once. The cleaning fluid container is still half full and the system required it to be changed. I'm getting ready to toss it out.

life, but none of them we're this noisey. When you get close to your
ears, it is very annoying! Secondly, the power switch (button) is very
poorly located, so that your thumb will inadvertantly shut the shaver
off, when you hold the shaver in the most comfortable position. I find
myself having to hold it closer to the top to avoid this problem, but it
is not the most ideal, nor suggested way to hold the shaver while
shaving!

Worst design razor almost 40 Years of using Norelco shavers

On paper this is probably their best design shaver. The problem is the connection between the plastic head unit that attaches to the handle. Philips Norelco head is so poorly design I think it needs to be made of metal. I've been using Norelco razors for almost 40 years

I have used Philips Noreclo shavers for almost 50 years. This is the best ever. I love the SmartClean system. It makes the use of this unit so straightforward and simple. In the past, I never cleaned the heads as often as I should since it was a bit of a pain. Great shave and essentially no maintenance. One of the best products ever!
