When I first ordered my Norrelco I had problems with the razor head , it kept on falling off the razor when I was shaving. I also have problems with the cleaning machine. It must of been defected when I called up Norelco they honor their warranty and send me replacements. Since then I have no problems with the razor or cleaning machine. The razor gives an excellent shave and the cleaning machine is very simple to use and I like that you razor becomes clean by just putting it into the machine. You can't use the cleaning machine every day because your cartridges will run out very fast, but if you wash your razor heads in the sink,and on every 3rd day you could put the razor back in the machine. That will save you some money on your cartridges running out too fast. I will recommend Norelco to anybody. It is a great razor.

I have a total of 3 Norelco Shavers. The first was the basic cheapest one I could get and I used it for years before upgrading to a better model. After years of using the better model I upgraded to the 9700 and love it. I still have all three and the batteries still hold a charge, but they need new blades. I use one of them to trim so I don't have to remove the head on the 9700 all the time. It's not a big deal to change it, but it's just easier to use the old one. I would highly recommend Norelco Shavers to anyone looking at electric shavers.
Pros: best shaving head of any i have owned.
Cons: must remove shaving head to put on trimmer

Despite all the "high falutin" supposed technological advancements, it really shaves no better then the old Spectra 8894 XL - the James Bond model from at least 20+ ears ago. Actually, maybe worse. I still use that old model today when traveling. The 8894 XL doesn't have the new fancy charging/cleaning stand the new model has that at least seems adequate for the task.
Pros: integrated system
Cons: shaves no better than older generations of razors

9800 great razor but blades don't live up to quality of razor

The reason you received a fair rating is because of the blades, Philips were kind enough to send me some replacement blades because the one's I received with my razor were awful after 4 to 5 months of use. They are cleaned every day and I can already tell a difference in the new ones that I received 2 months ago they also are starting to feel dull. The Razor itself is amazing and I have always owned a Philips and have know intention in changing that, but I would just like better blades especially in purchasing the top of the line 9800 series

Having previously used several different electric razors, the closeness of the shave from the 9800 is unprecedented! The engineering of the blade system also makes the shaving routine much faster. I was surprised that no cover for the head or stand for the razor was included in the package.
