I have to admit when I got the razor for a gift I was hesitant about it. It was very theme driven and usually that doesn't equal quality. This razor exceeded my expectations. It's a very quality item and it can be easily cleaned. It gives me a better shave then any other razor I have ever had. My only recommendation would be a bigger case to hold the charger. Other than that I have high praise for this product.
Pros: close shave, charges fast, nice design, quality product
The new V-track heads makes a difference. You can really have an excellent shave, easy to clean and noiseless. Just be aware if you own a previously norelco shaver the charger use different watts, don’t mix it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this shaver for myself for Christmas. When I opened the package I realized that an accessory, the plastic cover for the shaving heads was missing. The manual included with the shaver is for the S5290 shaver. It mentions that there should be a plastic cover and also mentions that there should be a shaver head release button. Well there is no shaver head release button. I have to stick my fingernail between the blades and the rest of the shaving head in order to pry it open everytime I want to rinse out the heads. VERY INCONVENIENT! As for how it performs...so far so good. It shaves great. I just have to be careful with the heads since I don't have a protective cover. I also have to leave my fingernails long in order to pry the blades from the rest of the shaving head.
Pros: shaves great!
Cons: no shaving head plastic protective cover, no shaving head release tab, manual included is for the s5290 model
I have a heavy beard, but, not the heaviest. It shaves well, but, it DOES take time, i.e.-10-15 minutes. It's very convenient to use, so, I shave much more often; hence, my skin irritation has greatly improved--to be almost gone. I use the Turbo+ mode first, which seems to work best on a 3 day growth. Regular speed seems to work better to get a smooth face AFTER using Turbo+ and on a 1 day growth. The trimmer attachment trims long side-burn, eyebrow and ear-around hair well, but, CAN'T make an even side-burn end. I still must use my blade razor for that. Design: There are too many useless LED symbols. I see no value in getting 3 or 4 shaves out of 1 battery charging. A shorter capacity with more frequent charging would lower the price. I still can't visualize the 8 directions in which it is claimed to shave. The case is worthless, made out of egg carton material, but, not as heavy. Cleaning: The instructions REQUIRE warm water. Too often after cleaning and drying, there is a bad residual smell. I've tried warm, cold and hot; all work; hot is, probably, best for true cleanliness. Warm is, probably, required because of the balance between necessary hygiene and hot-water-civil-liability injury. Needs: A cleaning brush SHOULD be included! Even, after rinsing, it usually needs brushing. I use an old tooth brush. CONCERN: According to my last call to Philips, the SH90 Replacement Shaving Head was not available and there were NO PLANS for making it available. Therefore, I can't recommend it. Bottom Line: It's convenient, so, I shave much more often, but, the SMOOTHEST shave is still a manual blade and cream!
Pros: convenience, improved skin
Cons: no shaving head replacement
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst shave I have ever had

I'm 58 and have owned a number of electric razors including multiple Norelco shavers. The shave I get from this razor is the worst I've ever had and takes twice as long as my previous Norelco. My old Norelco's blades are 8 years old and it still shaves better, I only purchased a new unit because mu old razor's batteries no longer hold a charge. A very regretful purchase
I'm senior who has owned 6 Norelco rotary shavers over a 60 year period. If I have a 3day beard I would revert back to my 1971 razor for a quick shave. all the subsequent shavers would take three to five minutes. Instead I would get the old shaver if available or a disposal blade razor. When I got this it looked like it was used, but after checking online it shows that it has a well worn look.
