I've had this smartphone under a week and I can say it's just super awesome. I also have the Moto E4 and what makes Moto phones great is their near-stock Android experience customized with their Moto addons like One Button Navigation and Moto Display. Being able to turn on the LED light with a shake is super convenient. And the dual-cameras take great pictures. What makes the G5 S Plus a great phone is the big screen, the superb build quality, and the premium feel. The specs and features for the price are unmatched, plus Motorola has promised an upgrade to Oreo. Sure, there are tons of competitors out there with all kinds of models now. I stick with Motorola and Lenovo because they've both earned solid reputations.
I've mostly owned lower cost phones before just because they're practical. Makes a huge difference coming from the plastic bodies on the those cheaper phones. I've always been a firm believer that you shouldn't have to spend more than $300 on a great smartphone. The idea of spending any more just isn't for me. Now if that's what you want then go for it, you'll be getting some great upgrades stepping up to the Moto X4 or Z2. To be honest, if there's a better phone than what I'm getting with the G5 S Plus I really don't care for it. For me, I just plain love this phone.
One minor complaint would be that the battery is 3000mAh which makes it marginally better than the Moto E4 but LESS than the E4 Plus with its 5000mAh battery. In my use the battery life has not been an issue so I would still recommend this phone.

I bought the Moto-G5s and have been very satisfied. Phone runs all apps really well and camera quality is pretty good too. Three of my family members use the Moto-G 5th gen phones and have no complaints for the price!!

Best mid-range phone I've seen recently

Minimal bloatware, just the way it should be. Almost no lag, handles high res games and online game play just fine. Really good camera and all the options and settings make up for it's slight lack of megapixels. True full screen and one button navigation is amazing! And the battery life is substantial, at work I tend to listen to music most of the day and still have enough juice left over to go into the next day no charge. At the price, the specs and features on this phone are right on the money
