Awful phone

I bought this phone and the speaker didin't work. I changed it for another one and the entire operating system was highly unstable and crashed all the time. I changed it again, and although the operating systems works, the speaker again does not work. I just stopped complaining because I got tired of changing the phone and assumed that the G5s sucks, and it's not that I had bad luck. It is really unfortunate, because I had a Motorola G4 and it was AMAZING. It's sad when companies get bought, and then screw things up. You would assume new phones would be better, but in this case things got worse. I hate this phone, and I am thinking about assuming the loss and going back to the G4, and of course, never buying a motorola phone again

Phone SX#$ks! Randomly makes calls on its own, reboots on its own, controls are in the wrong place. For example, pulled my phone out of my pocket to answer a call, phone decided that I was not going to answer and blocked me from answering. However, it would send a text message that I was busy.

A decent phone for a very good price!

I bought this phone a couple months ago since my very cheap original phone died and I needed one for work ASAP. I decided to go with the Moto G5 Plus for its inexpensive price, good reviews and decent camera. The only things in the box were the phone, charging cable and a brief guide. Setting up was very easy, since I only had to set up my fingerprint and sign into my Google account and could immediately begin installing apps. Camera: decent, but not excellent. Low-light photography is a bit of an issue. Screen: My main complaint is related to the brightness. I find the auto-brightness is not very accurate, and seems to always be too bright or too dark. Now I keep it on manual and change it as needed. Another slightyly annoying thing is that the screen comes on every time I bump or shift the phone, so I can pick it up and check the time without pushing any buttons, but can also be unwanted. Speakers/Headphone jack: I don't use the speakers very often, but they seem to be okay. Volume is accurate, and the headphone jack works just fine. Microphone: About average, low on static but also not crystal clear. Fingerprint Sensor: scans accurately about 90% of the time -- unless your finger is wet, dirty or awkwardly placed it generally picks it up. Charging: Holds its charge very well. Survives through most of the day with heavy use. Charges very quickly using the Turbo-Charger. Durability: I didn't have a case or screen protector on it for the first 2-3 weeks, and dropped it on tile a couple times. The aluminum back held up very well. The screen has a tiny, barely-noticeable scratch in the center but other than that survived with no blemishes. General consensus: A very good phone, particularly for the price.

Not What I Was Expecting.

I am so disappointed. I had the previous version of this phone for almost 2 years before it broke and i absolutely loved it. I bought the plus this time because i wanted a better camera and although the camera is super nice the phone is incredible glitchy. The screen will become unusable for an amount of time if you try to touch too many things to fast. It's like it gets confused and the glitches out randomly opening all my apps and becoming split screen and the only way to stop it is to turn the screen off and back on again. This issue happens daily. Aside from that the texting is super inaccurate from where my fingers touch and this becomes a huge inconvenience when i am in a hurry to respond to anyone. It also tends to run very slow or glitch if i have Pandora playing in the background and try to do something else like texting. Another fault is that it always takes me more than one swipe to attempt to get the screen open, its almost always a process to swipe ten times to get the phone to register that i am trying to open it. The battery even brand new does not last very long, about 8-9 hours with semi regular use which is another thing i was not excited about. Considering sending it back except i don't want to be phoneless for another week.

Consistent hardware issues

There's a noticeable downgrade in features from previous generations and now there's a reoccurring issue with the battery that causes core Android and associated processes to crash frequently. This appears to be a common enough problem that Lenovo already has a list template for tips that is deployed whenever this is brought up. I've followed all but the factory reset option repeatedly yet the problem reappears after every few hours. It's already disrupted my work, as I use several applications for communication, shared storage, and travel that end up crashing frequently in the middle of using them. I've seen other reviews that indicate the factory reset does not always fix the problem so I would end up having to risk losing all of that pertinent data just to go through the same thing again. All this at best makes this phone annoying to use, at worst you can end up like me and have important data and applications be disrupted.
Ultimately, this phone is only worth it if you have no other options. You get what you pay for, and that's hardware that reflects a below market price product.

Worst phone ever

I bought this a month ago. The phone's speaker didn't work well. After trying to fix it with technical support and noting that nothing worked I decided to change it. When I get the new one, the phone freezes in the middle of initialization, and after rebooting it asks me for the pattern. I put the pattern, which I have set 5 minutes ago, and it says it's wrong. And there is nothing else to do. So in the end, two attempts, both bad.

Great Phone!

I bought this phone to replace my Motorola Droid Maxx (which I loved), but google couldn't or wouldn't update their OS. Since google didn't update the OS, I couldn't get some of apps. I'll be honest, I was skeptical about purchasing the phone, however after using the phone i find i love it. The camera is wonderful and I got my apps back. It is to maneuver, especially since I'm not a tech person. I'm 65 year old, that wanted a phone with a great camera that I can understand. Hint: I downloaded the PDF instruction file for Motorola G5s plus to my Kindle. When I have a question, I just look at the file. I would recommend this phone, especially if you are on a budget.

Great phone, horribly slow updates.

Overall I'm pleased with the phone. Keeps up with everyday tasks well enough and the camera is great for the price. The gestures on the home button are also great. Really my only two complaints are the lack of a notification light and the SLOW updates. Mototola made an announcement almost a year ago now that we would be getting android Oreo. It's still on 7.0. Meanwhile Android 9.0 will be released in the coming months. I get that testing takes time but this is ridiculous. Unless Motorola can get back to their glory days where updates came quickly, I will not be buying another phone from them.
