Plastic veneer?!

Just had installed 4 days ago, when a pan grazed the trim causing a deep, whitish gouge. When tapped with fingernails, you hear the unmistakable click click of plastic rather than the tinny ping of actual stainless steel. Will be returning tomorrow.
