Over all best tax prep software I have used.
What's great about it: covered all bases
What's not so great: K-1 completion a bit cumbersome

Couldn't eFile
on April 10, 2018
Posted by: jsmith4016
When I went to try to e-File my trust return, I kept getting an error saying there was a transmission problem (Error: 2) and that I should try again later. I continued to try again over a period of about 4 hours, before finally giving up and deciding to file by mail (which was really inconvenient because I needed to print and enclose a 214 page Form 1099-B that listed hundreds of securities sales).
What's not so great: Had to print returns and file by mail because I was unable to eFile

Tax support advice is 5-Star!!
Install of Deluxe and Business CD's is scary! There is No Progress Bar while reading CD, so it looks like process is hung. Since it takes a while, I aborted. Later I retried, and eventually it silently completes reading CD and Install succeeds. But why no progress bar like every other software???
What's great about it: Super tax tool!
What's not so great: Weak install from CD

Expensive W/O Financial Download

Unlike other Turbotax products, there is no provision to download financial package data from institutions. All of the data must be entered by hand. I use Turbotax Business only to generate 1041s and schedule K-1s for my nephew's trusts, and the product seems expensive for this feature. I have used Turbotax Business for years for this purpose (only).
What's great about it: Good continuity from year to year
What's not so great: Unable to download data from financial institutions like other Turbotax products

What's great about it: The Federal return was very straight forward and easy to use. The review process was also easy to follow.
What's not so great: The California State portion, especially the review was very confusing to use and I needed to consult a tax professional

Estate Filing

Used for an Estate. Generally a good program but can be very confusing for a non tax pro. The Estate program (1041) should be separate from the business platform. It is a very expensive program to purchase. I would prefer to be able to purchase add on programs to the premier TT to complete such returns. It does offer Audit Defense which I purchased because I have never filed this type of return before.
What's great about it: Guided entries and assistance, Forum help, full form view
What's not so great: Estate 1041 should be separate program not part of the business platform. Very Expensive program, can be confusing.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
