No warning for known reason not to e-file
on June 23, 2018

This is actually for Turbotax business 2016. The program did not alert me to the fact that form 8925 (an informational form) would cause the e-file to be rejected. I received no notification and was unaware of the e-file being rejected until recently re-opening the 2016 program to obtain some historical information only to see a notice indicating my e-file had been rejected by the IRS and the reason is inclusion of form 8925 (which apparently cannot be e-filed). Why would a program that is aware of this issue (and guided you to fill out the forms including 8925) not warn you during the process of filing that this will cause it to be rejected?? This has resulted in a large amount of undue stress which could easily have been avoided by the program warning or not allowing you to attempt to e-file. Thanks for the trouble TurboTax!!
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: No warning for known reason not to e-file

Good but different

This was a tough year. The balance sheet requirement for cash based businesses caught me by surprise, since it hadn't been required in the past. Finally got it to work, but came down to the wire.
It might be nice to highlight (maybe on the cover of the software box) major changes from year to year.
What's great about it: Generally easy and straightforward for business returns
What's not so great: Caught by surprise that you had to show a balance sheet this year.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still Needs Improvement

As long as this program has been around, there is no excuse to not have incorporated many convenient features.
The one I do not get is why the program cannot file an extension electronically. There is NO EXCUSE not to have this feature by now.
What's great about it: Fair
What's not so great: Still missing a lot of features

MAC not supported. Again. E-File doesn't work.

This shouldn't be hard. Fix it. And for god's sake, make applications for MAC. I saw in July that Intuit is discontinuing Quickbooks for MAC and won't support it after next June. LAME!!!
What's great about it: Speak and Spell of tax return prep
What's not so great: E-File didn't work. Said the 8453 was attached but when transmitting, Ttax errored out "Form 8453 not attached"

2017 Turbotax Business - Reliable? Your Conclusion
on September 15, 2018

Turbotax 2107 Business has errors processing.
For example, after having entered the K-1 information, specifically Box 13-Code W, the program then finds an error, which is to have you to input manually directly in the Forms (on the step by step) the breakdown of the Box 13-W data. After you complete that, for some reason the data does not show up in the deductions section of the company. The result is that the return has a higher income, because the deductions did not show up. To solve this, you have to "trick" the software and input the deductions a 2nd time, but not in the K-1 section, but directly in the deductions sections... User beware, you might end up filing a higher income than your reality.
To me, it has been a waste of time to resolve this problem.
Is this a good software of is it a poor piece of applicaton? Your conclusions

Could be improved

I wish TT for Business would be upgraded and brought to the same level of TT H&B. I found "by coincidence" very important help message while I started to go by mistake through the steps of Schedule E in TT for H&B. This message said that the IRS expects us to amortize loan costs on our 1065. This is a major issue that was somewhat hidden and could put me in major troubles if I wouldn't have stumbled on it by coincidence. Interestingly TT for Business did not warn me about that when I added Loan Costs (which were close to $19,000) to the deductions..... This brings me back to what I said before - upgrade TT for Business to accommodate also laymen. It will be nice if you can show us what the income/loss for the business is continuously while we enter the data.
What's great about it: This year it allowed me to skip the Balance sheet step
What's not so great: Serious safeguards omission
