Didn't download 1099s

I used 2017 turbotax business to file form 1041 for a trust. The trust has a brokerage account.
I could not find a way to download the 1099s (INT, DIV, B). Fortunately, there was only one trade on the 1099-B, so it was too much hassle to enter by hand.
I consider the ability to download brokerage 1099s a requirement. Hope it's there next year!
The rest of the process went straight-forwardly and efficiently.
What's great about it: E-file, apparently correct
What's not so great: Couldn't find way to download 1099s

I own over 100 rental properties and the Federal return program can handle them but the CA program will not allow more than 5 copies of Schedule E which has 3 units each, so the maximum number is only 15.
Had to manually change some forms and re-assemble my CA return
ALSO: Even though Turbo Tax is supposed to allow to electronically file a 8938 Form it does not allow to write more than one beneficiary for a Trust that is required to file this form.
What's not so great: Lack of consitency between Federal and CA returns

I have used Intuit products for many years, QuickBooks, TurboTax, and TurboTax for Business. It has been a good experience and I recommend it to my friends and colleagues. Take your time and you will get a hang of it.
What's great about it: Step by step is very helpful
What's not so great: Unneccessary printing options at the end.

Over all ok. Difficult to go back is you change sections accidentally, i.e. children "helping"
Does not propagate all relevant fields on all items.
Its difficult to get a nick name. Do they think we will be blogging here often ?
What's great about it: Most items were done well.
What's not so great: Asked many questions over in different section.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

More than I needed

I'm the executor of my dad's estate and wanted some assurance I was doing the initial 1041 estate taxes for 2017 correctly. Turbotax Business was overkill for my needs because I had no distributions (K-1s) in 2017 -- that comes next year. But it did provide the assurance I needed for less than a CPA's charges. One thing to watch out for though: many states don't charge death or estate taxes. Turbotax Business tried to sell me a state - it should have been able to tell me I didn't need one. That didn't sit real well.
What's great about it: easy to use, intuitive interview
What's not so great: expensive for what I needed, unexpected extra state fees

Suggestion Results

1. Error review at the end does not explain reason for error, and what needed to fix it. 2. If what is labeled as error is really correct, does not allow efiling. 3. When starting a new return, certain screens appear to enter certain data. At the time of reviewing the return at the end, if certain parts of the information on the return are incorrect, does not always allow getting to the early screen that would allow for correcting it. 4. After completing data entry, had to scrap prep by Turbo Tax and use a CPA for one of my businesses because distribution of earnings on the K-1 would only reflect ownership percentage and not the change to profit/loss having different %, even though data entry accepts profit/loss percentages to be different for each member of the LLC. 5. If an item on the TT-prepared return is different from fact, there is no way to enter the factual data on the form to override the TT-prepared data. Must then hire CPA to prepare what should not have been necessary.
What's great about it: 1. easy to use, 2. clear instructions and progression, 3. ability to efile
What's not so great: 1. See Review, below. 2. May or may not receive feedback on cons or review suggestions.

Great Federal/Problem State
on March 23, 2018

Federal return was easy to input and crank out return. State software was expensive and put an error on the return and would not allow it to be corrected. In addition, it generated a lot of non required form when quick-file requirements were met.
What's great about it: Easy input, Turn Crank, out comes Federal
What's not so great: un-correctable in state plus unnecessary forms plus high cost
Pros: I bought or sold investments

No Download for the Brokerage account
on March 23, 2018

Turbo tax doesn't down load the 1099B from your stock broker. Not enough space is povided to enter the 1099B Sales of stocks When requesting more room to enter 1099B info it takes you back to the top of the page not the next entry. Why is it necessary to have a seperate program for the Trusts? Too many work arounds to support a poor product
What's great about it: Last years Turbo Tax is imported
What's not so great: Can not download the Brokerage account
