Easy peasy

efile screwed up

my tax returns are fairly simple, my primary reason to use turbotax was to efile . . . after trying every suggestion, I had to do what was recommended by the "community" which was to print out my returns and mail them . . . so I followed those recommendations at great cost to me and disruptions to my life by having to travel back to the USA to print and mail the returns. I recommend turbotax offer a better answer to efile failing to work than referring users to the "community" blog.
What's great about it: would have saved me a lot of grief if it had worked
What's not so great: after many hours of trying every suggestion to get efile to work I gave up and traveled back to the USA

I Wish TurboTax would create a 1041EZ

TurboTax is easy to use for filing out a simple Trust return (1041). It would be even easier if TurboTax provided the same import feature for 1099s that it does for the 1040 forms. Also, I had to purchase the Business version for a simple trust, and basically, did not use most of the features. It would be more economic if there was a simple 1041 software separate from the Business version. Also, TurboTax did not have my state version, so I had to do it manually.
What's great about it: TurboTax is easy to use
What's not so great: Must use Business version for a simple Trust

Incompatible with Apple

I have been using Turbo tax for 15 years and I am a CPA. Love the ease of use and being able to utilize either the interview or on your own features. However just moved to Apple products and was sad when the Turbotax Business could not be used with my I-Mac.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Incompatible with Apple Products

Straightforward

We are a small C Corp, still solvent, but struggling. We had an expensive tax accountant do previous years, but this year we opted to use those funds for other purposes and use TurboTax to file. Since we also use QuickBooks, using TurboTax was very easy. I referenced every entry to previous filings and everything "seemed" to line up. We'll have to wait and see if the IRS or the states have any issues. Hopeful we will have lots of cash next year for our tax guy, but I might opt to use TurboTax even if we are rolling in the dough.
What's great about it: The user interface is clean and straightforward to use
What's not so great: The state review seems a little glitchy. It flagged our name as an issue every time.

It gets worse every year

This software gets worse every year... lots of errors and confusing instructions (e.g., Form 2210 instructions useless - need to go to IRS pubs and instructions to figure out how to do it... and Schedule AI, Part I, line 2 shows wrong amounts even though calculation is done correctly...) and it's really difficult to correlate the input screens to the tax forms... why the software doesn't follow the order of the tax forms is a mystery... it would be so much easier
What's great about it: automatic calculates
What's not so great: impossible to figure out what goes wrong
