good help with Trusts

I have a Grantor Trust for my daughter's education, nothing fancy. Turbo Tax makes it easy to enter the info and file the correct forms.
What's great about it: Trust info was easy to enter and understand
What's not so great: K-1 distribution needs better automation

Horrible. Won't use TurboTax for my S-Corp again

If I did not have an accounting degree, I would not have been able to salvage this tax return. Errors when importing from TurboTax 2016 return made this a NIGHTMARE. I had to scrap everything twice and finally manually enter all my information with no time saving benefits of transferring. It was ridiculous. A huge disappointment over last year's software.

Got the Job Done

I am a trustee for a family member, not a business entity. The software offers limited support for this tax situation in general.
It is not possible to allocate investment income among states. You can choose one state OR many states. So you have to craft an additional 1099 to handle.
What's great about it: Tracks previous year's entries and has state forms available
What's not so great: Sends you to the community for answers

TurboTax Business

We have to keep one PC around in order to use this program. All the other TurboTax products run on either Apple or PC equipment. Grrr...
Other than that the program is great once I get our PC updated each year and then get to learn the PC quirks and behaviors.
How about doing what you do for all your other TurboTax products ... make this one Apple friendly too.
What's great about it: Smooth operations once set up
What's not so great: Only available on PC's
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Still the same shortcomings

First of all, TurboTax needs to be in better contact with the IRS because they changed the filing date for corporations last year, it is no longer March 15th, it is April 17th with everyone else. They made this change 2 YEARS AGO! Also I wish just once TurboTax could actually transfer my prior year returns.
What's great about it: still quick and simple
What's not so great: can not transfer prior year returns and never has been able to

software gliches

In Turbo tax business, the software automatically defaults all LLC partners as general partners EACH TIME the Partner ownership edit tab is opened, causing me to have to amend the federal and state returns.
Also, the state returns software wouldn't let me get passed the fact that I only had 2 partners, it insisted that I had 3 partners because I accidentally clicked add partner in the federal return, even though I deleted the blank partner in the federal return, the state wouldn't recognize that the blank partner was removed.

Excellent Experience

This is the first time I am preparing a business tax return (Form 1065). To be clear, my return was very simple and only required approximately 10 entries. But, I can see that it would be a helpful program to high activity business. I am also going to use this program to file a 1041.
What's great about it: Ability to go back and correct based on turbotax guidance
What's not so great: Additional cost for State Tax is very high.

This is absolutely the most user friendly software for small businesses. As a small business owner filing for only the 2nd time, I am still confused by some of the terminology or sections to file in. I found myself googling a few things but that just might be my inexperience. All in all, after trying other programs, I can honestly say this is the easiest way to file and I am SO happy to have it!
What's great about it: step by step instructions and a review at the end
What's not so great: the "explain this" links seem to be available for things I don't need and not available for things I need.
