Simple Estate Return Form 1041

Having used TurboTax Personal and Business software to prepare personal income tax submissions, I expected the TurboTax Business software required to fill out an estate 1041 form to be similar. It was not. First, it is Windows only, so us Mac users must use virtual machine software to run Windows. But more importantly, the software is simply not as simple or helpful in filling out specific data entries. I often had to resort to googling a question separately and researching what was needed vs. in-program explanations. That aside, the program was worth the cost to ensure filing the estate return accurately and completely.
What's great about it: Simple inputs generate byzantine forms
What's not so great: Not as helpful as Personal TurboTax

Good not great

Good overall, as expected. Big headache: I file both a business returns as well as personal... for some reason, TurboTax only recognized me for retrieving personal returns. I had to set up an entirely new account for business. Weird and annoying.
The UI is OK... at times, the instructions were not very clear, and when I had issues with balance sheet, it took me a while to figure out what was causing it... TurboTax did not provide any helpful guidance on where in the return I needed to fix things.
That said... overall experience was good and I am glad I used TurboTax

Saved Me Hours!

I spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to file taxes for a trust on my own. Finally gave up and purchased TurboTax Business. Best decision ever. I completed the taxes for the trust in about 15 minutes.
What's great about it: so quick and easy
What's not so great: had to Google a couple of questions about whether or not I needed to file a particular form

I'm not sure what to mail in

It walks you through everything until it's time to file. I did the e-file and then it said something to the effect that "You are not done until you print and mail this document" - then it failed to let me print the paperwork. I have a question posted on the forum. Hopefully they will be able to answer me.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Failed to print required mailing docs

First Time Corporate Filer

Overall very happy with the experience (excluding Balance Sheets NIGHTMARE I can blame the State for), and wondering how the outcome would have changed on my filing hiring a CPA.
What's great about it: Same Walkthrough I Was Used To
What's not so great: Some Jargon/Terms I Used Google For
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Excellent for Trust returns

Used Turbo Tax Business 2016 for trust, worked well. Tried competitors "Business" for 2017. Very stressful, took very long and left doubts. Purchased TT Business 2017, done in minutes! Highly recommend!
What's great about it: Very intuitive questions
What's not so great: 1 issue when entering K-1's

I am a CPA specializing in Trusts. I use TurboTax Business for 3 family Trusts.
1. I was completely incapable of generating 2018 NY est'd pmt vouchers.
2. The Trust is a NY resident Trust. It is NOT eligible to claim exemption using Form IT-205-C. I could not efile because that form IT-205-C was not completed.
This program is completely inappropriate for retail users if a tax professional with 35+ years of experience cannot make it work.

Maybe next year

A bit rough around the edges. Primarily because I had to buy a laptop to use the product. I use Deluxe on MAC for years and this is my first Business return. Hopefully, the future years will improve and it will run under IOS.
What's great about it: Works.
What's not so great: No IOS version
