SOFTWARE BUGS

ALL WAS FINE UNTIL AN IMPORT FOR A INSTALLMENT SALE HAD MULTIPLE IMPORTS FOR THE SAME SALE, WHICH CAUSED SOME PAIN TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SKEWED MY LONG TERM GAINS
THE E-FILE WAS MET WITH MULTIPLE ERROR 2 CODES.
What's great about it: WORKED FINE UNTIL THE END
What's not so great: IMPORTS WERE CORRUPTED AND E-FILING WAS MET WITH ERROR 2

TurboTax is the easiest tax software and I don't know what I would do without it. I guess I would pay a lot of money to have someone prepare my taxes.
What's great about it: I don't know what I would do without Turbotax

The 1099-R instructions are severely lacking. Does not allow for entry of all data from 1099-R.
What's great about it: Ease of Use
What's not so great: Lacks 1099-R entry explanation

I did appreciate the hours of help the tech crew put in to finally get this to work. But it was still more time consuming than normal. Thanks for helping.
What's great about it: The interview process is relatively simple
What's not so great: I had a gliche in the system this year and could not get state package to load.

Crashed at an Inopportune Time + Flags
on March 14, 2018

Crashed twice: once while doing a Final Check, and worse... once just before eFiling. However, just needed to kill, then restart the App, and it properly picked up where I had left off. A hassle, but no worries. Also, I didn't find a way to easily go back to the 2 Flags that I had attached during my fill-out phase. I did see the Flag icon, but it didn't take me back to the step-by-step screen I would have wanted it to.
What's great about it: Easy Flow
What's not so great: Crashed at an Inopportune Time + Flags

ALL DONE
on March 14, 2018

Have been using the product for 12+ years and have always found it to be easy to use with one exception, the reconciliation of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Capital Accounts. Second time in a row now that because of rounding I have an error of $1. It takes 15 minutes to go back through and find the exact right adjustment to get all three items reconciled.
What's great about it: Easy to Use, Intuitive
What's not so great: Sometimes Reconciliations can be Frustrating

good formats
on March 14, 2018
Posted by: Stayinformed
There are many ways to buy and use TurboTax. Make sure the type and version (online vs desktop) get you the results you need and keep the records where you want them. I found out the hard way the reason behind differences in prices, amount of returns possible, and where the information is stored for future access and rolling over the tax info from prior years.
What's great about it: organized and complete coverage of topics
What's not so great: Need to be more clear on how to save certain file formats based on style of program usage
