Great Tax Software!

TurboTax software is excellent! See all the pros above. Only con is that for my partnership we have a separate loss percentage allocation that is different from the profit percentage allocation for preparation of K-1's. The software used to automatically identify that a loss occurred and do the allocation properly. Last year, based on the process for filing a return using e-file, I filed first and later reviewed the K-1's which were wrong because of the allocation. I had to file an amended return as a result. This year I remembered this flaw, so I adjusted the K-1's before e-filing. Seems like an easy thing to fix in the code.
What's great about it: Ease of use, automated calculations, ability to edit and perform what-if calculations, useful help screens
What's not so great: K-1's for partnership return 1065 did not automatically identify loss % allocation
Pros: I bought or sold investments, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Rather underwhelmed

This is probably the last year I will use TurboTax for business. On the one hand, my federal return is rather simple and probably does not justify the expense of purchasing TurboTax. On the other hand, my state return has been beyond TurboTax's capabilities for several years and this year it refused to do anything on it at all.
What's great about it: Easy to install
What's not so great: Didn't do my state forms

What's great about it: I like the step by step guidance and information.
What's not so great: Somethings are not explain for non accountng people so it is difficult to understand what they are saying.

Hope It's right

The last step after I e-filed was to print any forms needed to submit to the IRS and I got an error code telling me it couldn't print. So I have no idea if there were forms that needed to be printed for mailing in or not!
What's not so great: The last step after I e-filed was an error code

Still has glitches
on March 4, 2018

Keeps telling me the return is good to send then won't let me send it until I input irrelevant information into a state form that I do not use. I finally just have to guess at the dates they want so it will send the return. There is no sign of that particular form in the tax return document.
Also, one of the screens continues to show the incorrect city for my business but won't allow me to make a correction.
What's great about it: Federal return is pretty easy
What's not so great: State return still has errors

Frustrated
on March 4, 2018

I bought this thinking I could have my brokerage directly input account info to the tax form but Turbo Tax "Business" does not allow for this. Very frustrating!
What's great about it: software all seemed fine
What's not so great: no brokerage direct input possible

Stock Transactions

No autoload made it very time consuming. Entry was also time consuming as each transaction asked all the same questions. A default could be allowed that would seed each question with the most likely answer, allowing changes to only those that are different.
What's not so great: Did not allow for autoload of transaction purchase and sale transactions
Pros: I bought or sold investments
