Needs Improvement

Quickbooks online does not work well with turbo tax business. There needs to be a way to export quickbooks data from online to turbo tax business with just a few clicks. And it needs to work on chrome and firefox. This process should be easy and fast. Not the hard complicated process it is now.

TT Business is Good

Turbo Tax Business has been a real asset. While I still consult a Accountant though regarding tax law changes, TT has allowed me as an owner to more closely watch and strategize the bottom line in a changing business environment.
What's great about it: Ease of filing gets better every year.
What's not so great: I had to back quite a few steps to change the signature date.

First S Corp Tax Filing

Turbo tax is very user friendly. However, there is no way for me to file state taxes for my S corp even though I thought that option would be included after paying so much for the software. It is a huge inconvenience for me to have to file state taxes separately.
What's great about it: User firendly
What's not so great: No state tax filing option

not geared to grantor trust

If the fiduciary of a grantor trust is not a grantor, it is cumbersome to use TurboTax. One must override the fiduciary name and address in multiple locations. Furthermore, if the fiduciary and grantor do not live in the same state, the wrong prompt for state filings is given.
What's great about it: generated grantor letter
What's not so great: had to override fiduciary information

Have been using for 6 years for LLC and has been good!
What's great about it: Easy to do when you down last years taxes
What's not so great: When called for help they first put to tapped voice and made you put on line question and I wanted the help by a person.

Program has known flaws

I bought this program specifically to deal with the reporting of my in-laws Estate which included the sale of a house. Common, right?
The Estate sold a house and had losses (sales expenses). The losses were not distributed properly to the K-1 forms generated and distributed to the beneficiaries.
I did not find out this problem until after I had filed electronically and one of the beneficiaries took the K-1 to her CPA.
Looking into the problem, I find that this is a known"glitch" in the program and the work around was included in the answer.
Well, not being a CPA, I expected Turbo-Tax to work properly.
The results are, I had to re-do the taxes, re-issue the K-1's, file amended taxes to the Feds and State for the Estate and for my personal taxes all by snail mail. Amended taxes cannot be filed electronically.
This could have cost my family thousands of dollars if this mistake wasn't noticed. As it is it has caused a huge headache, a lot of time and additional mailing expenses.
Also, there is not a companion state program available, so I had to go through that by hand - twice.....
What's great about it: Familiar feel
What's not so great: Does not handle losses on final K-1 properly

I give it 5 stars. Fantastic software. Prepared 1065 LLC Corp Tax Return with little knowledge..... just following the step by step instructions.
What's great about it: Easy to follow. Covers everything
