Very Satisfied
on February 23, 2018
Posted by: NanciAnne
I finished up my Trust return very early in January. Unfortunately, I had to wait for finalized forms. The Virginia forms only became available today (Feb 23rd) which will surely cost me $$ because we owed quite a bit.
What's great about it: Easy to enter info. Familiar to me.
What's not so great: Too few help files/links. Slow to get forms online.
Pros: I bought or sold investments, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax Business 2017 Suite

Filing this year was not only cheaper, I also had a bit of guidance, making this software top tier for it's kind.
What's great about it: "Cheap and efficient filing system."
What's not so great: "Lacks state filing capabilites, and can be complicated for some users."
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Some Good Some Annoying
on February 24, 2018

there are some good points, but some confusion. After a software update, the program changed last years depreciation to some random number. Why? This is something that I shouldn't have to put in to begin with (I used TT last year!) so why did it change? I was just at the point of filing, so this caused some major review headaches.
What's great about it: Year-to-year tracking, computations, K-1s
What's not so great: Errors in depreciation

Can't print Instructions
on February 24, 2018

This is totally inappropriate. We should be able to print out the instructions stating where to send the Federal Return.
What's not so great: A page of instructions comes up but the print process cannot find the page to print and says there is nothing to print.

Various elections for 2017 Trust returns
on February 24, 2018

Had to submit an inquiry on how to make the de minimis safe harbor election for a 2017 trust return. It was buried in the "find" portion of Turbo Tax. Prior year 2016 Turbo Tax had a Summary Election form to make the election. Why they changed the input methodology for making the 2017 election is obtuse. It should be a very simple to make the annual election but Turbo Tax makes it more difficult than it should be. Wake up Turbo Tax and be more user friendly on these types of matters.
What's not so great: Difficulty locating elections input

please fix cons; cost me hours. should partner capital contributions should be on the beaten path.
What's great about it: backload of data to other forms
What's not so great: balance sheet-had to override page 5 to input partner contributions during course of year.

Missing Instructions
on February 24, 2018

All went well except the federal filing instructions (for mail filing) didn't print with the return like they have for the past 15 years. Really didn't like that part.

Usual TurboTax Business
on February 24, 2018
Posted by: ralf80465
The business version does not contain fluid links to the associated forms. This means the user must do further research in the IRS instructions and forms to complete the tax submission.
What's great about it: Walked through the form with easy instructions.
What's not so great: Not as developed as the TurboTax personal tax software.
Pros: I bought or sold investments, I moved
